Lead Senior Structural Engineer
As Lead structural Engineer responsible for the design of the stations
including a pedestrian bridge for the 10-mile BART Berryessa Extension, the
first phase of the 16-mile BART Silicon Valley extension of the regional
BART system, Design-Build Project.

Self Employed
As consultant to IBI Group reviewed the "Santa Margarita River Railroad
Overcrossing Bridge Project" shop drawings; response to construction
contractor's "Request for Information" (RFI) and approval of contractor's
proposed construction plan.

Structures Project Manager
The company was awarded a design-build project for the replacement of 554
existing bridges throughout the State of Missouri. Total of 125 bridges
were assigned to the Irvine office. Managed and coordinated these bridges
as well as the design, quality review of structural detail plans including
response to RFI (Request for Information) during the construction phase.
This assignment was accomplished in 16 months period. Another design-build
project was underway for the State of Texas. We were assigned to design 4
of the bridges for this project.

IBI GROUP, Irvine, California
Senior Manager / Structural Engineering
Manager for the design and production of contract documents for variety of
structural projects. Projects included developing the design criteria,
typical elevated structures that would work for Maglev (Magnetic
Levitation) high speed transportation system for the 54-mile alignment from
Los Angeles Union passenger Terminal to West Covina and to Ontario
International Airport including the construction cost estimate; designed
the 500-ft long multiple-span post-tensioned concrete box girder and 250-ft
long trestle structure for Santa Margarita River Railroad Overcrossing
Bridge for the North San Diego County; OCTA Center Line light rail project
from City of Fullerton to City of Irvine where investigated the adequacy of
the existing bridges to be utilized for the light rail system including the
estimate of construction costs for the new elevated structures and the
stations along the rail alignment. Participated in developing the
structural design criteria for the elevated structures in Center-Line Light
Rail Project. Other projects included communication towers, retaining
walls, bus shelter structures and other transit related projects.

and 16 administrative staff for translation and recording the project
documents.

Managed the design and prepared PS&E documents for the widening and seismic
retrofit of the bridges on State Route 91 HOV project in Orange County.

Senior Supervising Structural Engineer and Professional Associate
Manager of the structural engineering design for the multi-million dollar
freeway widening project in Orange County, California; responsible for the
type selection, design and preparation of PS&E of Main Street Interchange
bridges over I-5 freeway. The Project included a unique and complex 65-
degree skew, multi-span post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge
supporting an off-ramp and an on-ramp structure at the south-end and an on-
ramp at the north-end span. Modified the Caltrans' standard detail for
column-flare to superstructure connection by isolating the flare from the
superstructure to improve the structure's seismic performance. This
phenomenon was studied and tested at the University of California in San
Diego and has become Caltrans' standard detail practice. Seismic retrofit
of existing bridges in Los Angeles County, California. Advance planning
studies for several bridge structures.

PARSONS BRINCKERHOFF, INC., Seattle, Washington
Lead Structural Engineer
Conceptual design and preliminary engineering for cost estimates on the
$650 million Downtown Seattle Transit Project (DSTP). In charge of DSTP
structural design of the Convention Place Station, International District
station, staging areas, the cut-and-cover tunnel structure, and the sub-
consultants' design oversight for the project. Developed methods of
analysis for the design and construction of cantilever cylinder pile walls
retaining the existing streets with the height ranging from 20 to 50 feet
and the pile diameter from 2 to 12 feet for the north staging area of the
DSTP. This method was presented at the 1990 international "Conference on
Deep Foundation Practice" in Singapore. Feasibility studies for movable
bridge alternatives across the Duwamish West Waterway. Evaluated ship
impact on the bridge piers and abutments.
Developed the connections for the West Seattle Bridge II movable swing
"steel superstructure
alternative" to the pier shafts. Proposed an approach to the design of the
post-tensioned steel girder composite with concrete deck slab swing bridge
alternative.
Responsible for the design of the West Seattle Bridge I East Approach
Bridges, production of contract documents and development of earthquake
restraint systems; inspection; rating and evaluation of adequacy of the
existing bridge structures.
As project Engineer responsible for the inspection and load capacity rating
of 3,027-foot long reinforced concrete arch Alsea Bay Bridge in Waldport,
Oregon.
Type selection of several curved steel box, concrete box and pre-cast pre-
stressed concrete girder bridges for the State of Washington.
Designed and prepared plans for tieback walls, pedestrian over-crossings,
and steel bridges.
Responsible for checking contractor's proposed construction plans,
alternate designs and details for consistency with project design plans,
specifications and design codes.
