Manage the entire Basis delivery for the client & lead a team of offshore & onshore Basis & Security resources in delivering tasks such as setting up a DR environment, Web Channel ISA deployment & configuration, EhP upgrades in ERP & BI landscapes, Java Stack Add In on a predominantly ABAP landscape, Configuration of ADS for Interactive Forms, System Refreshes, periodic maintenance activities such as Support Package & Kernel Upgrades, System Monitoring & troubleshooting, handling & resolution of incident & problem tickets within agreed service levels, Database Re-indexing, supporting Audit compliance exercises, etc. Also get the team to deliver in non SAP areas such as BSI Tax Factory & ADP Taxware.

Ensuring timely delivery of Basis tasks such as SAP Builds of NW Portal 7.0, PI 7.1, CRM 2007, BI 7.0, ECC 6.0, CE 7.1, Solution

Responsibilities

Leading a team of onshore & offshore Basis resources for implementing the HA based SAP solutions.
Coordinating onshore & offshore utilities to ensure efficient & effective utilization of resources.
Implementing SAP components comprising of ECC 6.0 SR2, PI 7.0, NW Portal 7.0 & Solution Manager 4.0 SR3 in Sandbox, Development, Quality Assurance, Parallel Run, Production environments on AIX 5.3L OS with Oracle 10g as DB.
Planning the Basis side of implementation & supporting other aspects of an implementation cycle such as installation of 3rd party Systems Management tool, fine tuning it, planning of other activities such as non functional testing, performance testing, tuning the environments, ensuring robust documentation, etc.

Client: Internal SAP Landscape (December 2006 – December 2007)

Role: SAP Basis Lead
Responsibilities:

Role included leading a team of shared resources to manage internal SAP systems & enhance the offering to the SAP community. We processed around 1100 problem/maintenance/support/enhancement tickets in a month along with planned developments, upgrades of SAP systems in various capacities, supporting the IDC wide SAP trainings within the Basis scope, etc.

Plan, manage & support installations of various SAP products like ECC, SRM, SCM, BI, CRM, ESS/MSS, Solution Manager, xSOP, EP.
Manage escalations.
Design & implement the maintenance & enhancement strategy of the landscape.
Plan, manage & support the upgrades of Support Packages, Kernels, Database patches.
Provide support to the various SAP trainings conducted IDC wide.
Help resolve time sensitive issues faced by the client team in the areas of Enterprise Portal, xRPM, cProjects, ECC, package deployments.
Plan & manage the deliverables so that the client derives bigger benefit from the service offering.
Manage & deal with escalations.

Client: T-Com, onsite Germany (January 2005 – March 2005)

Environment: SAP R/3 4.7 Enterprise, SAP CRM 4.0, SAP Web AS 6.40, SAP EP 6.0, SAP BIW 3.5, SAP Solution Manager 3.2 all on SuSE Linux, Oracle 9.2.0.1.
SAP Architecture: Centralized systems on respective servers in a single landscape, communicating with each other & administered using the CUA.
Role: Sr. SAP Basis Consultant
Responsibilities:

Operating System Administration: Configuring SuSE Linux for SAP software installations. Configuring environment variables, creating filesystems, various mount points, mounting the filesystem using YAST utility from SuSE, creating OS users, groups, authorizations, etc.
SAP Software Installations: Installation of the SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.7, SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 on SAP Web AS 6.40, SAP CRM 4.0, SAP BW 3.5 & SAP Solution Manager 3.2. using SAPInst.
Applying Database patches: Upgrading the existing 9.2.0.1 level to patch level 9.2.0.6. using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).

Client: T-Systems International, Germany (March 2005 – August 2005)

Environment: SAP R/3 4.6C on Windows 2000 Server & Oracle 9x.

SAP Architecture: 3 tier with 3 system landscape which includes Development, QAS & Production system. 14 instances on 7 Servers and 1 database server on the production system.

Responsibilities:

• Security Administration: Creation and maintaining user master records, creation of activity groups/roles, authorization objects and authorizations, authorization profiles etc. and assigned to users, using SU53 and system trace to optimize authorization checks.
• General Administration: Maintain SAP Instances - work process overview, background jobs, system profiles, ABAP dumps, checking Lock entries, System Logs, User Overview, Update termination analysis.
• Performance monitoring: Database Monitoring for analyzing Database Performance, Database parameter changes, Monitoring Space Critical Objects, Waving and extending table spaces, Analyzing extents of table and indexes etc., Buffer Monitor - data buffer, dictionary buffer, hit ratio, etc., work load analysis.
• Managing Output Devices: Configuring printers at the operating system level and in SAP R/3 to facilitate local printing, Front-end printing and network printing.
• R/3 Test Server Refreshes: To maintain consistency between the Production Environment & the Test Environment, performing the Test server refresh every month. This refresh is performed with the help of EMC backup tool.
• Database Monitoring: Using SAPDBA for solving database related problems like tablespace changes, extent changes. Extending tablespaces, creating / adding data files, analyzing extents of table and indices etc.
• Background Jobs Administration: Pushing scheduled batch jobs out of the maintenance window, re-scheduling & releasing them in another window to ensure that they generate & update the exact data.
• Others: Providing support for the Functional consultants for their various requirements e.g. analysing the ABAP dumps and suggesting suitable remedies like source code changes or customizations.
