Coordinate with SRISTI for providing technical help to the farmers of North-Western region of India i.e. Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra for organic crop/vegetables production and the Marketing of Organic Crop/vegetables Products. Organizing fairs like ‘Food Festival’ (i.e. Satvik) for the promotion and marketing of organic products. Work in co-ordination with SRISTI to strengthen the creativity of grassroots inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs engaged in conserving biodiversity and developing eco-friendly solutions to local farmers’ problems and provide advisory services regarding strategies like the use of crop residues for animal feeding, recycling of manure, composting of organic waste, etc.

Key responsibilities handled

• Co-ordinating the project “A framework for emergence, evolution and effective dissemination and utilization of innovations at the grassroots level”, a joint research project between India, China, Brazil and South Africa with active cooperation of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) [research proposal accepted, field work expected to commence soon].

• Worked on the project “Creative Communities for Sustainable Lifestyles” where an attempt was made to scout and document individuals/groups of individuals/communities initiating or leading a sustainable lifestyle in urban environments in India.

• Working on policy related issues at national and international level for the benefit of farmers.

• Successfully organized one week training courses for farmers related to eco-friendly farming techniques, integrated pest management and post-harvesting techniques, and innovation systems on good farming practices in Sept. 2010 and May 2011.

• Worked on the project “Village Knowledge Management System”, an analysis of the alarming rate of farmer’s suicide in recent years, identifying its causes, consequences, and development of prevention policies and farmer support systems.

• Review of indigenous knowledge/practices for water supply and sanitation in India and other developing countries like Brazil, China, Ghana, Egypt, etc. The project is funded by the European Union and also involves studying and analyzing the role of various organizations (Governmental and Non Governmental) in providing safe and adequate water to people in the ‘MAI-TAI’ (Managing water scarcity: Intelligent Tools And cooperative strategies) and ‘ANTINOMOS’ (A knowledge Network for solving real-life water problems in developing countries: Bridging contrasts) for Water and Agriculture Management and Sanitation projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan funded by European Union. .

• Successfully organized three days workshop from July 17 - 19, 2010. “Harnessing Intellectual Property for Strategic Competitive and Collaborative Advantage”

• Successfully organized a “National Policy Workshop on Wildlife-Livestock Interface in National Parks in India” involving renowned researchers, forest officials and policy makers from across India.

• Organised workshops on “Inventors of India 2008 and in 2009”.The basic focus of the workshop were to create widespread awareness among the grassroot inventors towards incubation and entrepreneurship. One of the objectives is to establish a collegial platform for learning and collaboration among various stakeholders including inventors, innovators, and managers of incubators, individual investors, venture capitalists, and policy makers.

• Successfully organized and participated in a ten day long Shodhyatra (a knowledge walk organized by SRISTI to unravel the creativity and innovative spirit of people) in rural West Bengal and Jharkhand (Dec.23, 2007, Jan. 03, 2008 and Dec 2010).
