ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND LEADERSHIP POSITIONS:
a. I was Standards Implementation co-chair for Minnesota Technology Education Association 2003-2004, which was responsible for developing a cadre of trainers to train Tech Ed and CTE Educators around the state, how to implement The Standards for Technological Literacy (National Standards) developed by the ITEEA and the National Science Foundation.
b. I was Community Liaison to the Standish-Erickson Neighborhood Association from 1995 -2003 for Folwell Middle School. During my tenure with SENA, I worked with their NRP Grant Approval Committee, which evaluated, approved, and assessed results of grants awarded. Prior to being asked to serve on this committee, I was a recipient of a $45,000 NPR grant for the school.
c. I served as on Folwell Middle School’s Technology Committee 1993 -1997 and Chair from 1997 -2004.
d. I wrote and received two Minnesota Chamber Foundation Grants, which enabled me to help students explore career pathways, develop interviewing techniques, write resumes, and determine the importance of pertinent core courses necessary to support their potential career pathway choices.
e. I wrote and was awarded an IMaST Grant from Illinois State University, which enabled us to pilot a two year Integrated, Math, Science, and Technology program with the university.
f. Served on a five member committee which developed Best Practices and K-12 Grade Level Expectation for Minneapolis Public Schools for CTE and Technology Education Classes, which included; Technology Education, FACS, Business Education, Career and Technical Education Programs.
g. Served on a committee which wrote and received a $5 million five year UROG grant which enabled us to set up two manufacturing academies with two middle school feeder programs, and a $3.5 million three year extension to the original program.
h. Served on a committee which wrote and received a $3.5 million title VII grant, which enable us to train over thirty member of our faculty in teaching ELL techniques in the mainstream classroom, plus fund many of our ELL programs which were under funded.
i. I have developed numerous partnerships with businesses in both the Minneapolis and Saint Paul public School Systems.
j. I spent eight years as a community liaison in Minneapolis, and helped bring need funding into my school.
k. I have completed the PLTW STI: IED in June 2007 at the U of M campus in Minneapolis.
