GENERAL MACHINIST/WIRE EDM

Capstone designs and manufactures micro-turbine generators. My responsibilities were to support engineering in research and development by building prototypes and fixtures. I used conventional machine tools including Bridgeport mills, various engine lathes, surface grinder, Mitsubishi CX20 wire EDM and inspection equipment.

In the production cycle I was responsible for machining air bearings using a Charmilles 2020 wire EDM with ABB robotics. The outside diameters of the bearings were ground with conventional OD and CNC grinder. Bearings were machined from inconel 718 and 300 series stainless. Tolerances were held within .00002 TIR and OD/ID were held within .00002 and inspected with an air gauge.

In addition to operating and programming, I performed scheduled maintenance, trouble shooting and repair on the wire EDMs. In 1998 I attended formal training at MC Machinery Systems, Cypress, Ca.. for operation and programming of Mitsubishi CX20 wire EDM. Also in 1998 I attended Charmilles Technologies training in Irvine, Ca. for operation and programming the Charmilles 2020 SI wire EDM.

GENERAL MACHINIST/MOLDMAKER

Currie Precision designs and manufactures plastic injection molds. I used conventional engine lathes, Bridgeport mill, sinker EDM, surface grinder and pantograph. Material we worked with in mold making included P2, P4 and P20 tool steel and aluminum alloys.
