Materials Engineering and Testing Manager - China Jun 2005 - Dec 2007

Established a Materials Engineering and Testing organization in Ford's Nanjing China greenfield Research and Engineering Center servicing: The Ford China sourcing office; The Ford China Joint Venture operations; The Ford Asia Pacific operation; The greater Ford Motor Company globally.

* Designed a multi functional greenfield laboratory building which housed test labs, a bench marking center, and garage facilities.

* Installed a functional physical and analytical materials testing laboratory to support the Ford enterprise globally.

* Was the lead Material’s Engineer for the front end modules on the award winning 2005 F-series truck supporting FEA CAE for robust engineering.

* Led material cost reduction efforts for 11 material substitutions, 3 design complexity reductions, and the use of 10 alternate sources with landed savings of $412M.

* Supported PD Engineering with document review of DVP/FMEA/8D, failure analysis, and robust engineering.

* For six months led all engine component drawing review and signoff for plastics, elastomers, ferrous, & non-ferrous material constructions ~ 3000 drawings.

Fuel Systems Design and Development Engineer Jul 2002- Mar 2004

Design and release responsible for the fuel filler cap, fuel filler neck, the fuel system attaching fasteners, and development testing for LEV II / PZEV fuel systems permeation testing for the

2004 / 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid / Mazda Tribute.

Accomplishments

* Delivered fuel system for the Escape platforms experimentally tested and certified to meet LEV II and PZEV fuel systems emissions standards.

* Developed and delivered an evaporative emission testing supply base and technique for repeatable fuel system evaporative emission testing.

* Saved the program $2.5MM dollars through supply base consolidation and part integration.

* Served on 2004 / 05 Escape & Tribute launch team to teach the operators about the new fuel system parts and provide immediate build issue resolution.

Design responsible for all component joints and affixing fasteners on the 4.0L engines manufactured in Köln Germany.
