PROFESSIONAL AND BUSINESS HISTORY

HAMILTON RAGNAR CEO (2002 – Present)

Hamilton Ragnar focuses on the evasive actions that are required when a company is at an inflection point: primarily start-ups, turnaround and companies requiring guidance in changing times. As CEO, ran day to day business, won new clients, and serviced most clients. The client list is confidential and covered by Non-Disclosure Agreements. Some of my work includes:

Spin-Off Oil and Gas, DC Interim-CEO

Took over the entire MRO warehousing for this company, over 140 locations worldwide. In the beginning, we were uncertain of our assets $100 million! Two years later we had accountability of all assets including replacement cost and depreciation, improved inventory tracking, a drastically changed supply chain, and savings of over 80%.

Start-up Outsourced Billing Interim-CEO

Green field idea from an existing client. The team researched the viability of an outsourced billing service. Within 5 months the business plan was acquired and integrated back into the existing company, now a large ($80 million EBITA) and profitable business unit.

Start-up Outsourced Customer Support Interim-CSO

This was a start-up that had been hunting for its Series B and had stalled. We changed the strategy from an on-line only offering to an on-line and phone offering and subsequently raised $75 million in venture financing. $30 million was brought in directly from our firm.

Start-up Outsourced Video Surveillance, Manila and NYC Interim-CEO

The purpose was to research the viability of an outsourced video surveillance service. The market was there and viable, venture raised in a few months around $15+ million.

Spin-Off Cosmetics, Beverly Hills Interim-CSO/CMO

Cosmetics offering from a world renowned plastic surgeon. This was a new to the world way of managing and applying make-up along with traditional make-up products. Well funded with a small but loyal following. The challenge was to build communities and mass appeal to a highly customized product. Moved from a boutique offering to $25 million in sales within 3 years.

Turnaround Industrial Metals, Indiana Interim-CEO

Manufacturing company dedicated to the custom mixture of titanium alloys for medical and industrial uses. The company owned some amazing intellectual property but was losing money, market share and by the time we came in was losing several hundred thousand dollars a month. Moved the existing CEO to “President – New Product Development” and hired dedicated sales staff, restructured manufacturing, cut administrative staff by 55%, introduced marketing plans and business development. Q2 break even, Q4 profitable, Q7 profit margin of 42%. Cannot disclose sales.

Spin-Off Food and Beverage, Chicago Interim-CMO/CSO

Worked with the CEO of the existing company to take an established well known restaurant and create a brand that included multiple locations worldwide and a line of food and beverage products that would have mass appeal.

Start-up Mobile Security Services, Chicago CEO

Green field company dedicated to mapping the inside of public and semi-public buildings for use by first responders to emergencies through PDA, laptop, and phone. Worked with ITECH to secure $200k angel funding, worked with HLS to raise an additional $70 million and began discussions with In-Q-Tell for an additional venture raise. Secured joint partnerships with the largest first responder database that tracks emergency personnel, built out the product offering, and secured marquee clients.

Start-up Dry Cleaning, Chicago Interim-CSO

Worked with the founder who was one guy, a van, and a pretty website moved to a full dry cleaning facility with 28 employees in 2.5 years.

Turnaround Consulting Firm, Chicago Interim-CEO

Established worldwide brand grew too quickly and suffered from over-diversification. Re-directed staff to focus on the original core offerings, spun off potentially profitable but non-core offerings, licensed several overseas offices to local talent and refined marketing. Moved from $18 million a year in revenues (with net losses) to sales in excess of $60 million a year and significant profit margins.

Start-up Restaurant, Chicago CMO

Worked with the founders moved the idea from a fad concept to a marketable entity. ROI of 213% within first 4 months, 8 locations within 18 months. Later helped with the partnership dissolution and buy-out, and later with their acquisition by a larger chain.
