Have a total of 12 years psych experience with the last year working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Have managed behavioral health units as an assistant manager and been a charge nurse on a regular basis. Have performed physical and mental status exams on psychiatric patients from pediatrics to geriatrics, and performed intake assessments and with the assistance of MDs determined their admission status and called insurance companies and conveyed information to determine length of stay or appropriate level of care. Work very well with MDs and interdisciplinary team members to determine the overall best outcome for patients and families. Personal Information and Interest

I am 36 years old. and have been married to my husband, Don, for 15 years. We have two sons, Gunner, 9, and Kobe, 8. We are very involved in our children’s school and our church. We volunteer for activities at both places. We coached basketball at our children’s school as well as a youth AAU traveling basketball team, and a competitive traveling baseball team. I enjoy sports, reading, helping others, cooking and spending time with my husband and children.

NURSE PRACTITIONER ACADEMIC CURRICULUM AND CLINICAL HOURS

I attended the University of Kentucky from Fall 2005 to Spring 2007. I completed 44 hours of graduate courses and a total of 720 clinical hours. The first 240 hours were with a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Angie Guillam, NP, in an outpatient setting in Danville, Ky. I saw adolescents through geriatrics in this office. My middle rotation of 240 hours was with a psychiatrist, P.D. Patel, MD, and a psych PA, Tim Picard, PA in an out patient setting in Somerset, Ky. I saw children through geriatrics in this office. I also went to nursing homes and saw geriatrics in long-term facilities. I concluded my final 240 clinical hours with the same psychiatrist and PA in the same private setting as well as an inpatient psychiatric unit, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where adults and geriatrics were hospitalized for acute psychiatric illnesses and exacerbation of those illnesses which are outlined by the DSM-IV guidelines. I also received 100+ hours of supervision by Ann Peden, ARNP from the University of Kentucky.
