Campbell County Senior Center Wellness Center

Campbell County Fiscal Court, Highland Heights, KY

Wellness Director/Coordinator, January 2005 to May 2006

Directed the development, design and integration of a whole-person wellness based fitness center for a 2000 sq. ft. addition to an already existing senior center. Responsibilities included day to day operations, programming, functional fitness assessments, memberships, supervised student interns from NKU, as well as all other administrative duties. The Wellness Center was in part due to a collaborative grant between Northern Kentucky University Scripps Center for Successful Aging, Montague, Eippert & Associates and Campbell County Fiscal Court. The Wellness Center was open to residents of Campbell County ages 65 and over. Under my direction, the Wellness Center received two awards, The 2006 NuStep Pinnacle Award of Excellence In Wellness Programming and the Best Practices Award from the American Society on Aging. (Development and design of this program was completed while employed by Montague, Eippert and Associates.)

U.S. Naval Hospital Health Promotion – Okinawa, Japan

Health Promotion Specialist, Health & Wellness Center, 2001 to June 2003

Implemented health promotion programs to USN Hospital Command and the military community on 7 USMC bases in Okinawa Japan. Programs: nutrition/weight management, tobacco cessation, fitness/exercise, injury prevention, high blood pressure, and STD/HIV awareness that were presented in exhibits, seminars/classes, briefs, screenings, and workshops. Highlights of accomplishments:

 Awarded Senior Civilian of the Quarter, 4th Quarter 2001, and 1st Quarter 2003

 Fostered a multidisciplinary approach to health promotion by partnering with Marine Corps Community Services Health Promotion to enhance wellness programming to the military community on Okinawa Japan.

 Conducted the BUMED approved 10-week nutrition/weight management program for Command-Directed Fitness Enhancement Program two times per year.

 Implemented other 4-week behavior modification weight management workshop for overweight Sailors, Marines, and community.

 Established an island wide health education newsletter.

 Organized educational programming and community interventions on a monthly basis such as Annual Kids Wellness Camp (01,02), Breast Cancer Charity Balls raised over $8,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and cholesterol screenings.
