Project Engineer PotashCorp/Austin Industries 2010 - 2012

• Responsible for project scoping and capital appropriations for projects up to $10 million.

• Perform project designs, cost estimating and cost control, project planning and scheduling, construction supervision, installation and start-up.

• My responsibilities include specifying, procurement and installing of process equipment in accordance with ASME, ANSI, and NFPA and Company standards.

• Projects include the following:

o DEF Production: Engineering and installation of a fast track project to produce DEF. This project had a short deadline. The project was scoped, engineering, installed in four mouths.

o Consolidated Control Room; Ten million dollar project to build a new control room and move all instruments and controls from the existing control rooms to the new control room.

o Cool tower biocide addition.

o Ultrafiltration/Reverse Osmosis system installation. Eight million dollar project to install an ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis system to provide boiler feed water to a 1500 psig boiler system.

Controls Engineer Hexion Chemical 2008 – 2009

• Responsible for maintaining and improvement to the plant control systems which include Allen-Bradley PLC, Wonderware HMI, Fisher-Provox DCS, and InSQL plant data historian.

• Assist manufacturing in daily troubleshooting and problem solving with computer control systems.

• Design and implement minor control system changes for process safety and process optimizations.

Technical Manager Amfine Chemical 2006 – 2008

• Responsible for process and project engineering in a small specialty chemical plant.

Project/Process Engineer 1996 – 2006

• Responsible for project scoping and capital appropriations at a plant level. I also perform project designs, cost estimating and cost control, project planning and scheduling, construction supervision, installation and start-up.

• My responsibilities include specifying, procurement and installing of process equipment in accordance with ASME, ANSI, and NFPA. This includes specifying and procurement of chemical process equipment that includes reactors, tanks, pumps and piping systems, vessels, heat exchangers and other equipment.

• Functioned as the controls engineer where I was responsible for maintaining configuring PLCs and HMIs.

• Managed contractors and was responsible to make sure the adhered to plant and OSHA standards

Design and installation of drum crushing and handling system.

Install communication between the fluorine plant and plants that consume fluorine so the plant operators would know the flow rate of fluorine they are consuming.

Other projects have included facility upgrade projects that include roofing systems, ventilation systems, and civil projects.

Upgraded the waste treatment facility that eliminated a possible environmental issue, instrumentation and equipment upgrade on the fast track to meet new regulatory requirements.

Calciner Upgrade

Fluorine cell control project where I applied the skills from AlliedSignal's Six Sigma training to reduce annual plant operating cost by $500K per year.

Ore blending project were we developing a new blending process that allowed the plant to process ore from different suppliers.

Uranium tetrafluoride study that demonstrated we could use the dry process to make uranium tetrafluoride that could be used in the manufacture of uranium metal.

Install a PLC network were 25 PLC were networked together.

UF6 cold trap controls upgrade

SF6 process controls upgrade.

Other projects have included facility upgrade projects that include roofing systems, ventilation systems, and civil projects

Installed new pumps, vessels and other equipment upgrades to the plant

EPF control upgrade. This is where we switched from PLC control to DCS control

Process Engineer, 1987 -1996

Vanderbilt Chemical Murray, KY 42071

This is a specialty chemical plant, which uses glass lined and stainless steel reactor to make rubber additives and oil additives.

• Responsibilities included production supervision and process engineering.

• Responsible for writing operating procedures for new chemical processes and revised the existing ones to meet process safety standards and other standards.

I was part of the team that installed and startup of a new process to separate hydrogen sulfide from carbon disulfide.

Installed new product drying system.

Plant Engineer 1985 - 1987

Estron Chemical Calvert City, KY 42029

Small chemical plant where I did project work along with general plant improvements including new equipment installations. My work included installation of evaporator equipment and reactor temperature control modification.

Production Supervisor 1985

Johnson-Matthey

Supervised operation of precious metals recovery plant. I was also responsible for implementing a precious metal inventory control system.
