A full-time permanent position in engineering, with emphasis on product development, quality assurance, system safety, and reliability.

Qualification and Background

8 years of experience in a fast pace environment, performing system safety and reliability. Extensive knowledge of hazard analysis and reliability prediction methods. This was preceded by 12 years of experience in product-development of consumer electronics, hand-held devices, computers, and servers with emphasis in test engineering, quality assurance, and reliability analysis.

Work Experience

5/2007 - 7/2010 Senior System Safety / Reliability Engineer Aerotek / Jacobs Engineering

Developed, managed, and implemented Hazard Reports (HRs) through analysis, design, procedure, and process reviews resulting in hazard free environment. This included identifying and evaluating causes and their respective controls and verifications.

Addressed, reviewed, and implemented corrective actions resulting from safety related concerns. This required a complete interaction with both the internal / external customers and vendors.

Maintained and developed Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures by assessing design and vendor data. Proper PM analysis led to reduce down time and effective product performance.

Developed, assessed, and managed Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs) by reviewing / evaluating system design, procedures, and process requirements. This included identifying and evaluating failure modes and their respective failure effects and corrective actions.

Managed design reviews and evaluated engineering change notices against any safety and / or reliability requirements. This resulted in developing and implementing complete comprehensive safety and reliability procedures.

Utilized such reliability related software such as RELEX, SAPHIRE, and CAFTA to develop reliability predictions, Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) and to perform fault tree analysis. This was used to determine root cause failure and develop a comprehensive reliability assessment.

Developed Non-Conformance Report (NCR) whenever it was needed to augment the HRs. This led to process improvement, procedure revision, and design evaluation.

1/2003 - 5/2007 Reliability and Maintainability Engineer GBTech Inc. / The Boeing Company

Developed and assessed Failure Modes and Effects Analysis at the system level. This included identifying failure causes, failure effects, criticality levels, and analyzing Critical Items List (CIL).

Managed System Problem Resolution Teams to address reliability and maintainability issues by reviewing design and systems requirements and evaluating procedures and processes.

Assessed and evaluated vendor data and systems design for developing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and hardware life expectancy. This resulted in improving MTBF and reducing the failure rate.

Performed fault and event tree analyses, root cause analysis, and reliability assessment by utilizing such reliability tool as RELEX. This resulted in improving overall system reliability and reducing failure rate.

Maintained and developed contract required documentations to address R&M qualitative and quantitative analyses and predictions. This included taking ownership of the R&M web site as the system administrator. The web site included all R&M related materials, failure analysis, MTBF calculations, fault tree assessment to name a few.

11/1997 - 9/2001 Test / Reliability Engineer Compaq Computer Corporation

Performed root cause failure analysis on system boards and other add-on boards to determine the failure cause. Took the corrective actions needed to implement the changes recommended.

Engineered and developed test procedures and methodologies to address design failures, manufacturing defects, and procedural and process deficiencies. This resulted in reduced failure rate, higher system reliability, and lower cost of repair.

Established rapport and maintained communication with both suppliers and internal customers and worked in a team environment to address design, manufacturing and procedural flaws.

Coached, mentored, and led technicians within a technical team environment. Delegated duties to technical personnel by providing clear and concise task order and assignment.

Performed extended reliability testing to enhance the functionality of the new systems in their early developmental stages. This included temperature, humidity, shock and vibration. This harsh environmental testing led to higher system performance.

Performed reliability predictions analysis to enhance the new product's life cycle. This included calculating MTBF and developing means to reduce the failure rate.

Performed Field Data Analysis through statistical means to build better reliability prediction models. In turn these reliability prediction models led to improvement in system design and better product manufacturability.

2/1994 - 10/1997 Reliability / Quality Assurance Engineer Gateway 2000 Computer, Inc.

Performed extended life cycle testing on computer systems, peripherals and components. These tests included all the required reliability testing as well as voltage fluctuation tolerances and noise susceptibility testing. Performed and implemented procedures to increase MTBF values. Designed a solution for field data failure rates to enhance the product life cycle.

12/1990 - 8/1993 Peripheral Engineer Zenith Data Systems

Worked with several vendors as well as internal and external customers to solve computer related issues. Wrote technical documentation, production specification and qualification reports. Investigated and resolved several production line and customer related failures.
