Industry Experience:

November **** – Present Electrical Engineer V, Hewlett-Packard Company

My current responsibilities are leading our RFID program to completion, which involves working with firmware, media team, system test team, mechanical engineering, and marketing. I am also overseeing EMC and ESD testing, which includes working with an EMC engineer to fix problem areas. I am working with a contract engineer for system cabling which includes lengths, bundling, drawing reviews, signal integrity, and fabrication with our manufacturing partner. I also am the design owner of four PCAs whose functions are motion control, power regulation, low voltage analog sensing, 3-phase motor control, and RFID electronics.

January 2010 – October 2011 Electrical Engineer II, Hewlett-Packard Company

Working as a Hardware Design Engineer in Retail Publishing Division of IPG, photo kiosk products. Designed a power regulator PCA boost and buck topologies with high current requirements. Designed a motion control PCA with HP proprietary ASICs, DDR2, Ethernet, and microSD. Designed an Ink Delivery System PCA with sensitive signals for ink level sensing. Designed an RFID reader PCA with antenna for an RFID application. Oversaw all layouts and fab process. EE liaison for defect management. Worked with overseas partner to develop and deliver product.

June 2007 – December 2009 Electrical Engineer I, Hewlett-Packard Company

Working as a Hardware Design Engineer in Retail Publishing division of IPG, photo kiosk products. Tasks include troubleshooting, schematic design, overseeing PCB layout and PCA fabrication, working with overseas partner to deliver product, system power analysis, and system cabling analysis. Designed a Motion Control PCA for a group which controlled over 20 motors and read over 40 sensors using multiple custom ASICs and several high speed integrated circuits.

May 2006 – May 2007 Technical Intern IV, Hewlett-Packard Company

The goal of this summer project was to integrate new hardware into an existing system. Tasks included research and design, board design, schematic entry, firmware development, hardware testing through I2C interface, financial analysis and hardware integration rollout plan. Worked with several engineers under different disciplines to complete project and integrate new hardware.

May 2005 – August 2005 Technical Intern III, Hewlett-Packard Company

The goal of this summer project is to determine a universal, low cost method for controlling various servo motors (as well as steppers) using a distributed controller architecture. The concept is to use small printed circuit assemblies (or modules) that would be physically located near each servo motor. Each PCA (or module) would have it’s own power source, an interface for communicating commands (bi-directionally), encoder inputs, motor drive outputs and possibly other discrete inputs/outputs for limit switches.

May 2004 – August 2004 Technical Intern II, Hewlett-Packard Company

Worked under the Commercial Business Printing Research and Development team (CBP R&D). Learned about thermal inkjet technology and operation. Summer project consisted of working with a mechanical engineer to design a hardware and software device that would encode a sound file recorded from a digital camera into a 2-D barcode that would be merged with a 4X6 photo. Microsoft .NET was used to write the software and Solid Works was used to design the hardware

May 2003 – August 2003 Technical Intern I, Hewlett-Packard Company

Researched and performed competitive analysis on the localization of inkjet printer manuals; made presentations to staff based on that research. Rebuilt the Connectivity Information Engineering (IE) Team’s entire web page using Front Page and Homesite 5. Revamped the IE Web site and assisted the IE team and other functional areas on projects assigned.
