M.Tech ACADEMIC PROJECT
Title: - “Non-Linear Soil-Structure Interaction of 3D Framed Structures”
In the present work, an attempt is made to study the non-linear soil-structure interaction of 3D framed structures.
The term Soil-Structure-Interaction has been largely used for the mechanism of interaction between the
foundation, soil and super structure. In general, al1 civil engineering structures will directly or indirectly interacts
with their foundation soil. The interaction of soil is sometimes neglected just to assume simplicity and economy in
the analysis of the structures i.e., the conventional analysis procedures involve the assumption of fixity at the base
of the foundation and therefore neglects the flexibility of the soil and the compressibility of sub soil.
In this work an attempt has been made to analyze the 3D structure-foundation-soil as one integral
compatible unit by using the general purpose finite element analysis software package- ANSYS. Parametric
study has been carried out by considering different raft thicknesses and the influence of the same on beams and
columns has been studied. The analysis also extended further by introducing beams in the raft (Stiffened raft).
Results are tabulated and plotted to compare the effect of changes in parameters. Comparison of linear interactive
analysis with non-interactive analyses without stiffened raft effect and with stiffened raft effect has also been
carried out.
B.E PROJECT
Title: - “Qualitative And Quantitative Evaluation Study On Leachate Generation At Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal Site Puttur Town - Dakshina Kannada”
Detailed study has been carried out to know the quality and quantity of leachate generated at municipal solid waste
disposal site in Puttur town. Also the effect of leachate on subsurface water quality at landfill site is studied. The
quantity of solid waste generated, and its components like paper, plastic, glass, food waste etc., in few wards of the
town is also considered in study area using GPS instrument.
