Section Commander (SGT)

•Deputising for the security Manager( S/Sgt) at security meetings and delegated tasks and oversaw projects when absent, this included liaison with outside agencies at all levels

•Supporting the daily running of a high profile military establishment, with 7 major functions per year. Providing physical security for VVIP, and members of royalty both domestic and foreign

•Reacting to changing security levels, unit and country wide, by co-coordinating the provision of physical security both static and mobile

•Liaising with third party security/emergency agencies with major exercises, and routine visits, to allow smooth running of exercise’s

•Dealing with high ranking officers and civilians, via telephone and in person to establish the security needs for VVIP visits

•Collating reports, advising on personnel issues for all team members to aid in their future advancement/development, plus the daily running and administration of an 8 man Security team,

HM Prison Service HMP Usk

March 1997- April 2001

Prison officer

•Supervised movement of inmates from unlocking and roll call in the morning, taking inmates to for Hospital/Doctor appointments, also controlling them between education classes

•Controlled Access/Egress of staff and visitors, from the gate house to various section’s of the prison, ranging from solicitors/police interview to family visits

•Searching of inmates prior to and after visiting times, to stop prohibited substances from being smuggled into the wings

•Conducted Security patrols of buildings/ perimeter fences to deter escape attempts, and also to stop contraband from being thrown over the walls

•Monitored vehicle checks before entry and exiting, preventing unauthorised items being smuggled in to and out of establishment

•Defusing confrontations between inmates, families, inmates involving other members of the staff.
