Optics Manager/Machine Shop Manager
Managed a 3 shift optical department for Defense and Commercial contracts, which
manufactured precision optical components. Familiar with infrared materials such as ZnS,
ZnSe, Cleartran, IG6, Si, Ge and BaF2. Have worked with tight tolerances and surface
finish, 60 40 scratch dig, .02um Angstroms, fringes Irregularity, to maintain the highest
standard for government mil specs. Managed and supervised daily activities to meet
company objectives and On Time Delivery goals. Supported Engineering and Sales from
quoting to deliverable proto types. Managed 29 Precitech Nanoform Utra –Presicion
Diamond Turning machines. In 2008, this facility was termed the largest diamond turning
facility, of this type, in the world. Maintained Vertical and Horizontal Zygo Interferometers
and PGI 1280 Form Talysurfs Profilometers. Performed yearly performance appraisals
and was involved closely with the hiring and termination process. Maintained a rolling
spreadsheet for On Time Delivery and posted metrics on shop monitor weekly. Performed
daily, weekly, and monthly 5S audits and maintained a 5S awareness atmosphere
throughout the shop. Wrote SOP’s for customer projects and ISO regulations. Performed
department tours for International’s and Domestic customers. Attended weekly IPT’s and
had weekly tele conferences with Raytheon, BAE and Timken.
