As an art teacher I encourage creativity in my students by slowing down the art making process and allowing extra time for intentional choices and individual craftsmanship. Emphasizing cognition as a creative activity engages students more emotionally and raises their levels of observation. Art Education K-12 should provide the skills and demonstrate the patience necessary for executing intricate handiwork.
