WORK EXPERIENCE
January 1, 2007 – March 17, 2011 U.S. Training Center Advance Shift Leader
As an Advance Shift Leader for a personal security team in Kabul, Afghanistan my primary duties were to provide all the information on a venue that high level diplomats will be attending. This includes but is not limited to knowledge of site, security, personal, floor plans, and actions on contact at venue, as well as some logistic support for the team and VIP. I routinely supervised and counseled team members and conducted team training. I was responsible for handling the day-to day operations of the advance team as well as making and maintain contacts in town to help with support for missions. Once on venue I was responsible for all posts and detail positions being properly covered until principal team’s arrival. I ensured that the team operated smoothly in accordance with scheduled and preset plans and was also responsible for directing and controlling response actions, if required during motorcades and all ground movements. I worked directly with Tactical Operations center, as well as the Operational Management Personal of the VIP as well as The Agent in Charge in order to maintain a good working relationship and happiness of the client.
May 3, 2005 – January 1, 2007 U.S. Training Center Personal Security Specialist
My primary assignments are day-to-day protective security details transferring U.S. Embassy personal to meetings in the Kabul area, and throughout Afghanistan. My principal duties for these assignments include, but are not limited to, planning routes, leading motorcade movements, establishing and maintaining perimeter security at venues, and conducting site surveys for new venues. As a personal security specialist (PSS) my primary duties are conducting motorcade planning, controlling motorcade movements, acting as the reaction PSS while on venue, and generally helping the shift leader to ensure that team is operating within the established plan. As PSS I have been tasked with directing and controlling response actions as needed by the team while on venue, and communicating radio traffic back to the Tactical Operations Command (TOC) during motorcade and ground movements.
While in Iraq I worked on a Quick Reaction Force, providing extra security to VIP’s as well as support to principle teams in duress. I worked directly with the team leaders to set up training in responding to an attack and securing the principle in a safe manner. I worked with the team leader in positioning of the QRF in an advantageous spot in town in correlation to the teams out in town. Other duties included knowledge of and how to drive over sized vehicle as well as belt fed weapons and their employment. I often provided over watch with these weapons in critical threat locations while VIP as well as fellow team members conducted their jobs on site. I would often relay what I saw on the ground to helicopter or U.S. Military support working directly with U.S Military communications gear.
