Summary of Qualifications
Over fifteen years analysis and programming experience on Iseries platform including RPG analysis, design, development and implementation.
Strengths:
One of my greatest strength lies in the fact that I have capabilities in each area that is required for software development in a large system. Those areas include analysis for entire projects, coding in all phases of RPG, project management, quality assurance, implementation and user training. I enjoy working as a team member, assisting in bringing out the best abilities in each team member.
Comments from colleagues:
Gets things done.
Pays attention to detail.
Follows up and takes initiative.
Programming Experience and Expertise:
All types of RPG from RPG II to free-format. Embedded SQL in RPG code. SQL scripts.
Current proficient programming techniques:
- Free format RPG
- Using user defined functions, UDFs, for repetitive tasks such as date handling and calculating pre-defined formulas such as cost.
- Using called procedures within program using local and global variables.
- Using predefined programming templates for standard handling of headings, screens, updating of files.
- Subfiles, interactive and batch programming, service programs.
Business Analyst and Project Leadership Experience:
- Acted as project leader for inventory consignment project and automation of incoming customer orders for EDI. This involved analyzing current systems and drawing up high level project documents that included time estimates and project tasks. I also assigned programming tasks to another programmer for the inventory consignment project and EDI coordinator for the EDI project.
- Acted as project leader for Y2K conversion while working as contract programmer.
I defined, organized and coordinated tasks for 3 programmers and myself. Also worked with client to define requirements for testing and implementation. I wrote cross-referencing utilities to identify date fields in files and RPG programs since the client or my contract company employer had no software to provide such functions.
- Completed two projects at local school district while working as independent contractor. These projects included rewriting a year-end leave update system that had been done manually because of so many bugs. The other project involved creating a file for downloading from multiple AS/400 files for their cafeteria plan administrator.
