Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for the Optical Alignment of all of EOST Telescopes and Optical Systems. Developed all Alignment Procedures. Design specialized opto-mechanical stages and test fixtures. Responsible for the Handling of all large optics. Interface with both Customers and Vendors in all areas of Optics, and procure all optics.. Optical Alignment of the four 1.8m Keck Outrigger Telescopes, two 2m class Telescopes for the Indian Astrophysical Observatory and the Magnum Telescope in Hawaii, two Laser Launch Telescopes for the Gemini Observatories, as well as a state-of-the-art Adaptive Optics Bench for the Gemini – South Observatory. Optical Alignment of the Airborne Relay Mirror System for Boeing SVS. Familiar with all optical equipment, such as Alignment Telescopes, Interferometers, Shack-Hartmann Wavefront Sensors, etc.

Responsible for the development and operation of the Metrology Laboratory for testing state-of-the-art Gradient Index (GRIN)Optics. Duties included the design, set-up, alignment and testing GRIN materials, as well as the measurement and analysis for GRIN Optics development.

Senior Developmental Engineer

Responsible for the design, alignment and metrology of Test set-ups for infra-red detector arrays, and other IR optical systems in the Detector Optics Laboratory. Also responsible for the alignment, and operation, of the 5-wavelength Scatter Test Station. Held SECRET security clearance.

Breault Research Organization, Tucson, Arizona, May, 1987 – April, 1990

Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Fabricated and aligned the BRO Fully Automated Scatterometers (FASCAT 180/360), and provided assistance in limited IR Interferometer production. Wrote the Interferometric Wave Code (IWAC) User Manual.

University of Arizona Optical Sciences Center May, 1980 – March, 1987

Optician

Fabricated highly specialized Optics, including the Infra-red Chopping Secondary Mirror for UKIRT, as well as a 16” f/1.5 Parabolic Mirror for JPL. Worked on many both small and large Optics. Analyzed computerized digitized interferograms utilizing the FRINGE optical software program.

Fabricated highly specialized Optics, including the generation of two 2m Mirrors for the Next Generation Telescope (NGT) Project. Analyzed computer digitized interferograms. Provided consulting for the NGT Project.
