SPE developed an international consulting firm that provides lean manufacturing expertise to significant companies in the automotive sector as well as to its portfolio companies.

Developed SPE’s portfolio strategy to acquire small niche companies at attractive valuations and create value through an operating approach based upon the principals’ operating experiences at Toyota: (i) more efficient, less costly production (implementation of Toyota Production System) and (ii) new business development that leverages SPE’s extensive relationships. SPE’s diverse and unique capabilities combined to create an integrated, full-service supplier of engineering and, manufacturing solutions with the ability to seamlessly design, develop, manufacture and assemble complex components.

TOYOTA MOTOR SALES USA, INC., Vice-President and Managing Director of the Mexico Start Up Project (2000 – 2003) Torrance, California and Mexico City.

Responsible for Toyota’s key start up venture in Mexico. Toyota targeted a 10 % market share in 4 years for vehicles parts and service. The task included establishing sales and finance network with 80 dealers ($2.5 billion sales per year) and a manufacturing presence that includes a $1billion investment. The Mexican market is essential for Toyota for the future development of the North American market place. Mexico Project supports Toyota’s South American presence. Provided leadership for all strategic functions to the President and Board of Directors.

Responsibilities included Treasury and Controllership Functions, Systems Development, Human Resources as well as all Administrative functions for Toyota’s (AAA Rated) US Auto Captive Finance Company.

• Developed worldwide funding strategy and provided strategic leadership for all TFS borrowing activities - $9 billion annually. Includes unsecured, secured (ABS) commercial paper and various derivative products. Achieved and analyzed low cost funding options worldwide.

• Established strong relationships with key investment banks and developed a worldwide institutional investor base extensively in Europe, Asia and the US for fixed income products. Position served as the chief liaison with SEC, rating agencies and bondholders.

• Developed risk management strategy for overall Company. Includes value-at-risk analysis, hedging strategies and market-to market analysis.

• Developed and implemented information systems for the Company ($150 million annually). Represented the Company on key technology and management committees for the Company and worked with the Toyota international finance affiliated network.

• Developed strategic plans that included a variety of options and alternatives for future growth in the US and Latin America. Established banks in South America that exceed $1 billion in assets.

• Led the various cost reduction programs in North America, along with reviewing all key operational business practices. Reduced $1 billion of costs out of the sales and distribution operations while growing vehicle operations by 25%.

• Initiated and defined business systems and processes to support 2 million unit sales in the US.

• Principal negotiator for all significant supplier contracts with the Company that included all key merger and acquisitions activity for the Company (1 acquisition was in excess of $1 billion).
