ACADEMIC PROJECT:

FIRE DETECTION AND EXTINCTION CONTROL IN INDIAN RAILWAY COACHES

Project Description:

This project is developed using RF Satellite Communication and Embedded system concept to over come the real time performance that must be met, for reasons such as safety and usability. As the embedded systems are controlled by one or more main processing cores that are typically either Microcontroller or Digital signal processing(DSP).Here in this Project Microcontroller ATM89C51-52 is been used and is dedicated to handle a particular task in the whole project.

This project consists of two parts .1.Train side unit and 2.Station Side Unit.

Coming to the train side unit Temperature sensors, Buzzers and Motors which are placed in each every compartment is being connected to the microcontroller .As the temperature rises beyond the value which is already being flashed in the microcontroller. This microcontroller automatically sends a signal to the engine room where the switching unit is being connected and switch on the control unit to stop the train and to run the motor used for spreading the water (SF6 can also be used instead of water).

RF satellite communication concept is being used for transmitting and receiving the signal at the station side unit from the microcontroller which is fed to the encoder. This encoder encodes the binary data and the output is fed to the RF transmitter to transmit the message to the near by station.

This transmitted signal is received by the RF receiver from where the signal is decoded and given to the microcontroller used at station side unit. This microcontroller helps in displaying the message in the LCD screen regarding the fire number accident that as occurred in a particular train with the train number and the compartment
