EATON HYDRAULICS, INC., Greenwood, SC 2000-2010

Contractor 2000-2006. Hired as employee 2006-2010.

Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer 5/2001-6/2010

Implemented lean manufacturing principles in the manufacturing of Vane pumps for the Greenwood, SC plant, retooled and reprogramed ~200 parts to reduce perishable tool spend by ~$100K/ year from $3M/year.

• Moved late point machining of Gear Pump bodies from India to Greenwood with a $10K budget. The project was completed on time and under budget.

• Upgraded the Soft Side Rotor Cell operation from 6 operations using straddle mills to vertical mills eliminating 3 machining operations reducing work in process (WIP) from 11 days to 3 days, scrap by 25%, and improved quality to 1.67 CPK (process capability). Budget was $750K.

• Re-programmed and re-fixtured part fixtures for ~200 parts for MAZAK mills and upgraded the perishable tools for the Soft Side Ring Cell reducing scrap for the cell by 35% and improved thru-put by one day per order.

• Re-processed Flex Plate machining cell to remove 2 intermediate processes reducing the labor requirement by one man per shift and and cell cycle time by one day per order.

• Reprogrammed and re-tooled ~177 parts for Mori-Seki lathes to improve part quality to 1.67 CPK and reduce setup time by 20%.

Led project and played a key role in moving ~200 parts from Greenwood, SC plant to Spencer, IA plant, performing retooling and reprogramming in APT as required.
