SUMMARY

I am certified, and licensed in the State of Virginia as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. In addition I am certified in CPR. I have worked in the medical/ophthalmology field since 1996. Over the years I have assisted in cosmetic, and eye related procedures, contact lens fittings, and teachings. I have strong patient communication, and management skills. I have the ability to work independently, as well as with large groups of people, and have a strong desire to learn, succeed, and be the best in my field.

EXPERIENCE

Ophthalmic Technician - 2007 to 2009

West End Ophthalmology, Richmond VA

I assisted with preliminary testing prior to the doctor seeing the patients, and setting up surgery. I worked with electronic medical records, and other various computer programs like Word, and Medic.

I welcomed, and registered patients, got referrals, authorization for visits, and surgery. I was in charge of restocking, and reordering all of the medical and office supplies. In addition I worked with billing, and coding, scheduling appointments, and general office, and administrative duties.

Ophthalmic Technician - 2005 to 2007

Commonwealth Eye Care Center, Richmond VA

I worked in a glaucoma/cataract practice, assisting the doctor with the patients, and getting them scheduled for surgery. I assisted the Dr. in the operating room during surgery. I was in charge of all of the ordering of medical supplies, and keeping everything in stock.

Ophthalmic Technician - 1996 to 2005

Virginia Eye Institute, Richmond VA.

I was trained to do preliminary testing for the doctor, and to take measurements prior to surgery for the patients. I assisted with Lasik, and Laser surgery. I did sterilization for instruments, and assisted with in-lane procedures. I assisted with photography, and OCT imagery for the doctors.
