SUMMARY

I am a graduate of SMSU with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts/Literature. I have taken many courses to strengthen my writing, communication, and classroom skills and to broaden my knowledge surrounding literature, language arts, and education. Additionally, I have received a Spanish minor, which has helped my ability to communicate with diverse cultures. Many of my job experiences have also strengthened my skills and knowledge for future job opportunities. I have worked at Medford Public Schools for the past three years in various different Language Arts grades and classes.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

With my school experience, I am proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other online programs such as Google Docs, Schoology, and Google Classroom. Education classes and work experience have strengthened my communication and classroom management skills. By working multiple jobs during school, I have maintained a strong work ethic and have advanced my time management skills. I am very adaptable, understanding, and empathetic to other.

WORK EXPERIENCE

MEDFORD HIGH SCHOOL

AUGUST 2020 – JULY 2023

From August of 2020 through June of 2023, I worked at Medford Public High School. Throughout those three years, I have taught various classes, including: 7-8th grade reading intervention, 9th grade English, 10th grade English, and 12th grade literature.

LOWES

JUNE 2022 – AUGUST 2022

During June of 2022 through August of 2022, I worked part-time at Lowe’s in Owatonna. My primary job was to work in the paint department, mixing paint, finding the best products that would help customers, and helping customers have a good and simple experience at our store. I would also stock shelves, help in other departments, fill online orders, etc. I have advanced my time management, communication skills, and quick thinking while part at Lowes.

VISHAY

JUNE 1 2015 – JULY 31 2020

I worked at Vishay full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year. At Vishay, I was on an assembly line where I pieced together small parts that are further passed on to the next members of my line. I would also perform final inspection and testing on completed parts. While working here, I also learned many things such as communication skills when working with the other members of my line, problem solving skills when something would go wrong within the line, and also how to stay on task. Additionally, since I worked here during the school year, I have strengthened my skills in time management.

SMSU WRITING CENTER

SEPTEMBER 2018 – MAY 2020

I worked for two hours a week in the Writing Center on campus at SMSU. I worked with students at my college in a wide variety of majors. This has taught me how to more effectively and efficiently assess papers as well as how to give constructive feedback to a diverse population of students. It also help improved my overall communication skills.

MINNEOTA PUBLIC SCHOOLS

SEPTEMBER 2018 – DECEMBER 2019

I worked as a substitute paraprofessional at the Minneota High School when they needed someone to fill in. While working here, I had the opportunity to work with students of all ages, from 3 years old to 18 years old. This job opportunity has given me more experience in a school setting, and it has allowed me to work with and learn about diverse students.

MINNEOTA COUNTRYSIDE GOLF COURSE

JUNE 1 – JULY 30 2014

While working at the Minneota golf course, I was a waitress, and I also washed dishes. This job taught me communication skills as I had to communicate with the people I worked with as well as the customers I was faced with. It also taught me to be efficient because I wanted to make sure that the customers were happy with the service that I was providing.

I graduated from SMSU IN 2020 with major in Secondary English Education as well as a minor in Spanish and Literature.

I graduated from Minneota Public School in the spring of 2015. I ended with a GPA of 3.925, and I graduated 6th in my class with distinctive honors. During my senior year of high school, I got the wonderful opportunity to take three college courses through College Now, which were College Algebra, College Writing, and College Literature. I was also involved in a vast amount of activities throughout high school including basketball, volleyball (both playing and taking stats), band, Junior Olympic volleyball during the spring, and a few Summer Rec activities during the summer.

I volunteered as a judge for the Creating Spaces Writing Contest. The contest consisted of poetry, nonfiction, and fiction between 3rd and 12th grade.

HALLOWEEN AT THE YMCA

OCTOBER 31st 2017, 2018, 2019

I have helped out at the YMCA’s Halloween festival. At the festival, we put on games for children in elementary school.

SMSU HIRING COMMITTEE

APRIL 2019-JUNE2019

I volunteered with professors at SMSU to be apart of the hiring committee searching for a new Spanish professor. With the committee, I reviewed resumes and conducted both telephone and in-person interviews. Eventually, we hired a new professor for our campus.
