Currently, I work permanently, as a deputy sister or charge nurse in the chemotherapy suite with the United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust. My role involves assessing patients prior to receiving chemotherapy to establish fitness and safety to receive chemotherapy to rule out, side effects and toxicity of chemotherapy and managing the side effects.

My position as a deputy ward sister means I lead the team to ensure trust policies are adhered to and our care is delivered safely. Making sure staff learning needs are met and updated regularly. The role also allows me to help nurses to develop clinical and managerial skills pertaining to the various treatments used in chemotherapy.

I also work closely with doctor and allied health members to achieve the best care for patients.

It also involves daily skills of cannulating, assessing porthacaths and PICC lines, administering chemotherapy and educating patients about their care.

I also work part time in the accident and emergency department at Lincoln county hospital. I have done this role since 2009, mainly working in the Accident and emergency department and the occupational health department when needed.

I have also worked in various institutions per diem in the US, to maintain my practice and knowledge.

As mentioned, I have experience in working as an occupational health nurse. This role comprises of carrying out risk assessments about various jobs and the potential for hazard, advising employers and employees about how to manage and promote their health.

I have instrumental in setting up the occupational health departments in Lincoln.

Several years ago, I worked as an RN in a forty bed, extremely busy emergency room in Virginia USA. My role involves, triaging, assessing, and initiating planned care for patients. I take pride in ensuring my patients are comfortable, informed of their care, and satisfied with their care.
