HEALTH CONSULTANT:CAC Howard County Head Start.March 2017 to 12/1/2019 . Responsible for seeing that all federal.state and county regulations for health records for children enrolled in Head Start are kept up to date,accurate and carried out by trained staff. Review all new admission health records for accuracy,medication needs at the schools,contact parents or physicians for any missing health information and develop Health Alerts for the staff at the different schools/centers.During the school year,responsible for making visits to the centers to review all medications,physicians orders and action plans/health alert for accuracy,report any deficiencies to the center managers for correcting. CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST (Psychiatry):Spring Grove Hospital Center,Catonsville,Md.( Retired after 16 plus years).Provided and trained staff in the clinical care of psychiatric patients in the state’s largest psychiatric hospital.Taught and oriented new staff ( all disciplines) and provided continuing education to all staff to ensure that the patients received the optimum care. Chaired the hospital and nursing Policy and Procedure committee for over 10 years, developed and updated policies to meet state and federal regulations. Contact insurances companies to obtain admission approval for patients who met criteria. Provided information to physicians in order to obtain admission orders. Computer data entry completed. CASE MANAGER: Green Spring Health Services, Columbia, Md. (part-time-over 3 years). Responsible for obtaining pre-certification authorization for inpatient treatment for mental health and substance abuse from clients’ insurance companies. Communicated with hospitals’ emergency rooms staff in the mid-south and midwest states who were requesting authorization for admissions of their clients.If clients met criteria, approved the admissions.Was knowledgeable of criteria for many insurance companies in the United States and highly qualified to make approval for admission. One of the responsibilities was to respond to crisis calls received at the center from states across the country and unitized education/knowledge to defuse potentially dangerous situations and/or contacted the emergency services (Police) for assistance in possible suicide threats. All information was computer entered and sent or faxed to appropriate persons.

COORDINATOR OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT SERVICES : Liberty Community Mental Health Center (Liberty Medical Center), Baltimore, Md. (4 plus years).Responsible for all staff (mental health counselors, social workers and psychologist) in an outpatient center and coordinated treatment and services for clients. Provided guidance and in-service training to staff; development policies and procedures required by monitoring agencies in the state and city to meet criteria for licensing. Developed and partnered with a local high school guidance counsel service to provide service for teenagers in crisis that the school could not offer. (six plus years).Responsible for overall supervision for therapeutic program for in-patient inmates which included group and individual psychotherapy; staff development for RNs, LPNs; psychologists, art therapy and psychiatric assistants. Dispensed and monitored Methadone and narcotic antagonists to drug dependent clients in one of only two Methadone treatment facilities in the country at that time.
