Appliance industry, North America operations of Haier (China). New Product Introduction (NPI) program manager at cooking engineering.

Program / design leader responsible for developing key products internally made (Haier Organization) and/or sourced for cooking and ventilation areas.

Developed and executed program schedules which incorporate: Design and development activities; Developmental build timing, evaluation cycles; certification and regulatory requirements; factory integration and ramp up; distribution timing; commercial and customer requirements.

Facilitated sustaining engineering. Led an engineering team of 10. Provided support to Monterrey (Mexico), Manitowoc, Wisconsin (U.S.), and Hangzhou (China) plants.

Led cost savings projects, including renegotiation of supplier pricing of splash shield and inlet valves, localized plastic suppliers in Mexico from U.S. (Alliance, Ammex, Jones, Lakeland), and redesign of components that led to $2,500,000 material forecast cost savings.

Managed engineering changes to product components and assemblies that achieved $2,000,000 cost of quality savings in 2017 tracked weekly.

Redesigned part to replace glued assemblies with ultrasonic welding assemblies saved $80,000 in warranty costs.

Developed derivatives and special products, such as Marine ice machine units and new filter supplier resulting in new models launched on time and at cost.

Led LPG refrigerant model introduction working with PFMEA and safety directions to manufacturing that processed LPG products in manufacturing in Monterrey, Mexico.

Redefined and updated design team standards and processes that improved clarity, consistency, and accuracy of prints released from engineering.

Directed inspection of all parts in production at Monterrey facility, compared them with specifications, and modified parts or prints according to need to clarify status of parts used in production and avoided ad-hoc reactions when problems arose.

Reviewed ECR (Engineering Change Requests) daily and assigned one draftsman to work on pertinent changes that improved response time from 1 month to approximately 4 days.

Engineering Senior Manager: Responsible for New Product Development in various project organizations.

Led global washer project designed in Europe and U.S. and made in Italy to avoid buying a similar washer from a competitor at higher cost.

Led team of approval engineers in Saint Joseph, Michigan, design engineers in Italy and Germany, and Italian manufacturing leaders to standardize specifications and approval codes between Europe and U.S and launched 2 months ahead of original schedule (Fast Track Challenge).

Introduced series of new models at Whirlpool Clyde and Marion Divisions. Led project update, including American model line (aesthetics, specification, colors, etc.), and export model line with different codes and specifications, making them as close as possible to current model line to introduce approximately 40 SKUs on time and at cost.

Organized and directed project scope on vertical axis washers and dryers, and determined resources and standards for engineering, manufacturing, and marketing.

Acted as Project Lead and Technical Lead on Dryer Global Engineering responsible for 3 successful mega-project launches for Maytag, Whirlpool, and Amana brands providing different cycles, different aesthetics, and different specifications. Project budgets up to $20,000,000 USD and teams of 10-12 reports and 20-cross functional/regional people in a matrix way for 3 mega-projects were launched on time and at cost.

Project Manager: Responsible for New Product Development (NPD), Brazil.

Acted as Project leader for new gas dryer developed for Latin America. Project cancelled after proof of concept, prototype build, and field tests due to investment decisions.

Expatriated to Monterrey, Mexico, Horizontal Axis Washer Global Engineering Area to lead global product development team (Germany, U.S. and Mexico). Established Monterrey Tech Center, hired new engineers, created training programs in U.S. and Germany, and collaborated with University of Monterrey graduate students on assembly-line designs. Result: Achieved approval of 2 projects.

Led cost reduction and export product model line, and managed overall engineering budget management with 11 direct reports. Result: Launched products and met cost reduction target.

Served as Project Leader on Latin America region for new dryer model. Met all targets, including cost, quality index (from 14% to 7% filled call rate), forecast investment, and project schedule. Result: Won back the market leadership to Whirlpool.

Developed new washer line from concept through launch, including design engineering, laboratory, model shop, and industrial design. Introduced glass lids, dual action

agitator, drawer dispenser, heater, and full electronic controls to Brazilian market. Result: Achieved a 14%-point (p.p.) market share growth and planned quality goals.

Former PMP (Project Management Professional) certified- Project Management Institute.

Lead Engineer

Developed plastic, metal parts, and assemblies for washers and dryers, as well as different duties under engineering department.

Designed first plastic (polypropylene) top and lid assembly at Whirlpool Brazil with 22” x 22” plastic top and lid. Result: Led the market in innovative design.

Expatriated as Product Engineer (Michigan, U.S.) for 15 months to work on Global Dryer project. Created scalable dryer sizes and communized current product architecture. Supported team with research on new Energy Saving dryer and market comparisons.
