As a Transportation Quality Control Inspector
· Ensure that the contractor is following the contract Quality Control Plan;
· Use material qualification tests to evaluate the conformance of material with the Technical Specifications prior to construction;
· Ensure sampling and testing for conformance of the materials to the Technical Specifications are carried by the contractor.
· Monitor in situ material qualification tests provided by the Contractor; and review the test results. Recommend further evaluation testing etc if necessary.
· Document that the test methods by the contractor are acceptable, or not (qualify);
· Determine the extent and nature of defects when discovered in the course of construction.
· Document that material used and work performed meet specified procedures required in the contract.
· Document that work performed meets lines and grades shown on the Drawings.
· Monitor that the construction activities do not damage the underlying materials, drainage ditches and pipes, substructures, and utilities.
· Document Handling and Laying of equipment’s, material, and works by the contractor, and report non-compliance to Chief Engineer and recommend corrective actions;
· Ensure proper sampling and conformance testing are satisfactorily carried by the contractor for all construction work.
· Implement Program Quality Control System to ensure that the conditions of the agreement are met in full.
· Take direct responsibility for supervision of contractors in the areas of monitoring, change of orders, contract compliance, quality assurance, safety and documentation of all interaction.
· Ensure field reports are to a satisfactory standard, as per Quality Control System.
· Have a detailed knowledge of project in progress.
· Ensure that all materials and equipment related to Program projects meet the required standards and specifications.
· Keep a daily Site Diary recording construction events and progress, weather, contractors personnel on site etc.
· Ensure that Contractor keeps a daily site diary, and sign this off at regular intervals (daily if possible)
