(Population Welfare Education through radio in

conjunction with Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation & Ministry of Population Welfare)

Population Communication International (PCI) is an experienced and reputed International NGO with its headquarters in New York. It has extensive experience in the development of entertainment education

programs utilizing radio and television to tackle such complex issues as family planning, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention and gender equality. PCI works in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the primary donor of this project and has full responsibility of funding the project. This is a three-year entertainment education project relying on the strength of drama to reach out the rural populations in Urdu, Punjabi,

Pushto, Baluchi and Sindhi and try to bring about

behavioural changes.

radio drama broadcast each week in Urdu and

An emergency section was set-up to speed up the

procurement procedures and delivery of Non Food

Items (NFI) to new Afghan Refugees coming in Pakistan as a result of war against terrorism in Afghanistan. These NFI includes cooking stoves, quilts/blankets, jerry cans, buckets, and toilette/laundry soap. This also includes the clearance and delivery of NFI’s coming from other countries as an aid/gift to these Afghan refugees.
