Job Duties

Assist the physician with the patients and medical procedures as needed

Prepare patients and the exam rooms

Obtain initial medical history, vital signs and review of systems using standardized forms

Update medication list with each follow up

Return calls to patients, pharmacies as directed by physicians

Review abnormal lab results and report to physician

Provide patient verbal education as well as reading material

Keep medical records in accordance to procedure and HIPPA compliance

Keep exam and treats rooms clean and properly stocked with supplies as per OSHA guidelines

Answer and screen incoming phone calls in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner

Triage all medical calls and act accordingly

Scheduled, cancel and change patient’s office visit, surgical appointments and testing procedures

Pull and organize charts for upcoming appointments

Began process of patient referral (if indicated). Pre-certification / Pre-authorization

ICD 10 Coding

Patient check in and out

Knowledge of surgical instrumentation

Handling of suture, needles and instruments

Dressing and care of surgical wounds

Suture and staple removal

UNA boot / post-operative dressings

Complete patient insurance forms, short- and long-term disability forms and Aflac forms
