After 29 years of service at my most recent job, I retired in July 2021 and am seeking part time employment to supplement my income. I prefer working remotely but would consider on-site jobs that would allow me to be flexible with my work schedule.

I feel that the skills I have would make me a good candidate for any type of administrative assistant, data entry or customer service position. I had no formal training in any of my skills, but I pride myself in the fact that I am a self-taught quick learner and can adapt to changing responsibilities. I have always tried to find a quicker and more efficient way of doing things to make it easier for my co-workers and myself to get the job done.

Due to the Covid pandemic, I realized just how flexible I am as I worked from home for 4 months and was able to perform all job duties other than those that could only be done on-site. This transition from the office to home happened overnight as I was informed midafternoon that I would be working from home effective the next day. This required a quick assessment of all my job duties and all files and paperwork that would be necessary to do my job remotely for an unknown amount of time. A few months after I returned full time to the office, I had to quarantine due to exposure to Covid, but was able to quickly switch back to working remotely during that time. I feel that flexibility will be an asset to any employer that will hire me.

Responsible for referrals to our agency for the birth to three program via fax, phone, and email. Entered referral data into agency cloud-based system after verifying eligibility for our program. Performed office functions including scanning, faxing, copying, and uploading documents into our system. Provided clerical and administrative support to as many as 50 staff working in the office and out in the community. Tracked upcoming deadlines and provided reports to staff to help them keep on top of timelines and critical deadlines.

Entered necessary data to exit children from our services and notified necessary records staff of these exits. Created monthly reports for administration using multiple sources such as spreadsheets and databases.

Communicated with local school districts to make necessary referrals to them when a child was approaching the age of three years. Information was entered in the state system as well as our agency system in a timely manner to remain in compliance with state regulations. Created monthly reports to send to each school district regarding children that would be transitioning to them in the coming months.

Up until the implementation of the cloud-based system, I created and updated most of the forms used by the agency. The forms were done using MS Word and/or Adobe Acrobat with fill-in fields to be more user friendly.

Primary responsibilities were screening job applicants for hourly positions, new employee orientation and helping administer employee benefits. I kept all hourly employee personnel files, filled out necessary paperwork and routed it to payroll for wage increases, approved leaves of absence and vacations. I was responsible for filing workman's compensation claims and following up on them with the insurance company. Log all on-the-job injuries and do monthly and yearly reports for all lost time accidents. Answered phones, did light typing, and data entry of personnel records on computer and various other clerical duties. I worked closely with all department supervisors and hourly personnel.

Wichita grade schools, intermediate and one year of high school. Received G. E. D. in May 1984 with a Grade Point Average of 94.

However, I worked alongside Kathy Cochran at Rainbows United from April, 2002 until April 2021. Initially, I worked as one of Kathy’s peers, Kathy as the Administrative Assistant, and I as a staff Social Worker. Later, after I was promoted, I became Kathy’s supervisor.

Kathy would be a great asset to any organization. She is organized, friendly and efficient. Kathy is able to juggle multiple job responsibilities with ease, keeping staff and her supervisors on track in order to meet mandatory deadlines. I observed Kathy to be courteous and professional when dealing with staff, community partners and parents (some of whom were quite disgruntled). What amazed me most about Kathy was her continual drive to find the most efficient way to get a task done. She makes the rest of those working around her look good, because she finds ways to make not just herself more efficient, but all of those working around her more efficient too.
