Suncor Energy

Position: Rotating Reliability Engineer July 2018 – Ongoing

• Initiated and led bad actor program to improve the MTBF of critical Rotating assets, exceed above company’s KPI, along with introducing and leading ultrasonic greasing program in entire upgrading area to improve electric motor’s MTBF.

• Led upgrading mechanical seal and seal plan in compliant with API 682 which resulted in improved reliability of mechanical seal and eliminated loss of containment hazard.

• Providing technical support for critical compressors by assessing the condition of turbomachinery using System 1 for turbines & centrifugal compressor and Prognost VISU 18 for reciprocating compressors.

• Using CBM tools such vibration and oil analyzing, System 1, and thermography to improve reliability of process critical multistage charge pumps.

• Led various Root Cause Analysis(RCA) using Apollo RCA and fault tree analysis to get to the root of failure and contributing factors.

• Re-rating of equipment for improved performance and making it more compatible for available process conditions by running them close to BEP(Best Efficiency Point).

• Analyzing technical data from various sources including PI Processbook, System 1, and other disciplines to provide sound technical solutions to operation and maintenance department.

• Led several extended (>45 days) outages to support turbomachinery overhaul activities from generating tailored SOW to Return to Operation (RTO).

• Using RCM to propose and implement PMs and their frequency for lube oil change, vibration analysis, and overhaul based on criticality of the rotating equipment.

• Facilitate and championed RCA in response to incidents to facilitate prevention of future occurrences as a part of STEN (Suncor Technical Enterprise) member.

• Conducted structured rounds to make sure there are no unwanted conditions and the plant operating reliably.

• Provided engineering support on pumps, compressors, turbines, and mechanical seals by securing a Pump Champion role for operation team.
