OBJECTIVE

I am looking for a part-time position to augment our retirement income. A position in photography, photo editing, customer service, or retail sales would be perfect.

SKILLS

Teaching, photography, 3D visual arts, sales, pet care, people skills

EXPERIENCE

FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER

2005-Present

I own and operate a sole proprietorship and have built a solid business with regional recognition. I specialize in headshots, lifestyle photos, fine art figure studies, and composite images of internationally captured images. My work has been shown worldwide and is represented in many educational, cultural, corporate, and private collections.

REAL ESTATE AGENT

1988-2015

I sold real estate as a way of augmenting my income from freelance photography and art sales. Although this started as a way of supplementing income, I became a top-producing agent, and, out of an office of 176 people, I consistently ranked in the top 5% of sales volume. I also acted as one of the few mentors in the office and trained many new agents to function at a very high level. This position taught me to deal with a wide array of people and personality types when they were under a great deal of financial pressure. Coupled with my experience teaching at the university level, this helped me to empathize, cooperate, and adapt to the cultural norms of people from around the world

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ART, HIRAM COLLEGE, HIRAM, OHIO.

1979-1986

I served as a Professor of Studio Art with a concentration on sculpture, ceramics, art education, and figure drawing. I rebuilt the entire ceramics and sculpture areas of the campus and developed the programs into one of the most popular ranges of course offerings. Early registration was competitive and consistent. I became Department Chair and served in that position for the normal two-year period. I oversaw interviewing, gallery organization, jurying, publicity, catalog production, and curation. I also oversaw the performance of others in the Art Department, represented our needs and positions at faculty meetings, and acted as a public spokesman for the benefits of our program.

VARIOUS OTHER PRIMARY AND ADJUNCT POSITIONS

1986-2013

Chairman of the Art Department, the Maret School, Washington DC, 1986-1989

Adjunct Instructor, Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland, 1988-1989 and, again, 2012

Instructor of Ceramics, VisArts, Rockville, Maryland, 2011-2013

Instructor of Ceramics, Glen Echo Pottery, Glen Echo, Maryland, 2005-2008

Manager of Monocacy River Pottery, Thurmont, Maryland, 2007-20012. I completely rebuilt the gallery, the studios, the kilns, and the shared working areas during this time. I also hosted, facilitated, and presented a variety of workshops. I was able to publish, in professional journals, some of the innovative techniques I developed during my tenure at this post.

EDUCATION

B.F.A.

Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, 1968-1972

I graduated with a 3.3 GPA with a major in Painting and a minor in Art History. I devoted much of my Senior Year to exhibiting my work in a variety of Regional and National juried shows.

M.F.A.

Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, 1976-1979

I finished my very innovative thesis project in Sculpture in 1979 and it was shown at the ‘Women’s Interart Center’, just across W. 54th ST. in NYC from the Museum of Modern Art. One of my sculptures was retained by Kent State University for their permanent collection and a book, centered on my thesis project, is in their campus library. My GPA was 3.6.

CERTIFICATE OF MASTERY

New York Institute of Photography, NYC, NY, 2017-2018

I completed the most vigorous, advanced program in photography offered by this institution and, as a result, developed a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of various approaches to the medium.
