Manage and ensure consistent Software Quality Assurance program and reporting with a team of 40+ and over 10 different applications with approximately 8 release annually. Provide leadership in planning, developing, administering, reporting, and implementing Quality Assurance process and methodology programs within Digital and outside of Digital within HNB, her focus is on take preventive action rather than reactive.

Key Contributions

Manager responsible for quality assurance of Retail Online (ROL), Business Online (BOL), Online Account Opening (OAO), Mobile Applications, and Huntington.com (COM).

Guided & assisted the QA team and business partner in reviewing the test coverage and test execution strategy, making significant positive change to add quality and efficiency. Introduced the regression and smoke testing strategy to the IT and Business segment.

Restructured the testing tool (TFS/MTM) to improve the QA status report. Partnered with the TFS admin to build the work flow for tests and defect management.

Continuously learning new and emerging technologies and methodologies by attending QA conferences and professional Meetups.

Worked with the Application/automation architect to design and implement a Huntington-specific training course to convert manual testers with no coding experience to Ruby/Cucumber automation testers. Training was conducted as either 1:1 focused on active project work or in groups focused on team domain knowledge.

Provided multi-million dollar savings across Huntington as QA manager spreading the Enterprise Automation Program via increased test coverage (full regression and release testing with immediate feedback), task automation (data creation, reporting & metrics, environment setup), time savings (reduction of manual test cases, alignment of standards & practices across segments), application quality (smoke tests integrated with CI build process, automated code analysis metrics), and cost reduction (defects discovered earlier in SDLC, minimizing project & off-release support hours).

Worked closely with the Product Team to communication application status, which included daily standups, project status meetings, Enterprise QA manager meetings, Release meetings, bi-weekly QA team meetings, and external project manager status meetings.

Performed a tool & technology audit for each project to determine team needs and develop a staffing profile to ensure successful delivery. This activity involved working closely with the BSA manager and QA managers of upstream/downstream applications to ensure proper resource alignment.

Led the effort to convert all members of Digital QA to automation developers, designed an extensive Continuing Education program for all Digital, and held biweekly 1:1 sessions with each direct report on the status & career development. In each 1:1, the colleague worked on establishing SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound).

Built QA team and process from ground level then stablished a strong QA process and team of 12 within 6 months. Also supported company’s vision to stablish and utilize offshore team. HNB initially hired Sarala as Quality and Process champion since HNB had just stablished the QA organization late 2009. Worked independently, stablished testing process, strategy and tool then trained and managed multiple testing resources who were converted as a QA from BSA role. Also documentated all the process and procedure and maintain standards across the business segment.

Audited the HNB process, tools, and the SDLC process while managing four resources.

Introduced the best industries practice to restructure QC defect process.

Reviewed existing test plan documents partnered with an audit to understand business expectations. Implemented the updated test plan across HNB including approvals by key team personnel.

Assisted with the requirement review process, defect management process, test script review process, test coverage strategy, and reporting process. Involved the QA resources in the SDLC during the requirements and scoping phase. Built a requirement review checklist for the QA team.

Coordinated between the QA managers, QA Lead, and QA Analyst to improve the performance & productivity of the QA team.
