Professional Overview

Kingston/Princeton Manor Healthcare Centers Bakersfield/Vallejo, CA March 2017 – July 2021

(Privately Held – Sister Facilities Specializing in Skilled Nursing Services)

DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Handpicked to transfer from Princeton Manor Healthcare Center to its sister facility in Bakersfield, as part of a COVID 19 Outbreak Rapid Response Team. Kingston was having difficulties containing an Outbreak of the virus in its facility, and the Executive Team determined that a Rapid Response Team was warranted to address the issue. I was selected as part of that effort, to ensure that the best practices from Princeton Manor and as well as emerging guidance from both CDC and WHO, were efficiently adopted and implemented at its sister facility, located in Bakersfield. Primary focus was formulating, coordinating and implementing the team effort of turning around the Infection Control Program, to eventually achieve free of deficit practices, as defined by the COVID Mitigation Surveys.

At Princeton Manor Healthcare, my initial primary focus was the improvement of patient responses to both internal and external Quality of Care Surveys. The facility was considered a Two-Star ranking by most measures, and the Executive Team had prioritized improving that KPI metric, to better compete in the Bay Area market space. Successfully improved the quality measures across the board to eventually achieve a Five-Star Quality of Care ranking, compared against the same surveys previously mentioned as Two-Star rankings. Gains were attained through a balanced approach of highlighting the areas of strength to direct reports, and by aggressively flagging and reshaping areas of weakness, through continued training, process modification, and redefinition of employee job accountability to better align the staff’s individual job performance goals with the success or failure of the department. Areas of greatest improvement were that of wound care, reduced inpatient stay duration associated with short-term rehabilitation services, and bariatric care quality of care measurements. My successful efforts in these mentioned improvements, were instrumental in my selection to be a part of the COVID 19 Rapid Response Team efforts, as maintaining high marks in quality-of-care standards were of utmost concern, even as we worked to address the containment efforts that we were tasked with improving.
