EPMC of the first phase of the Coal Mine’s expansion at Cerrejon, Guajira. The scope of the work included: Mine infrastructure (Workshops: welding, rails, hydraulic and truck washing), construction of 2 new diesel tanks, enlarge substation 69/110 KW. Port facilities (construction of a new coal dock, new conveyor belt system, and concrete production plant). Railway (siding and maintenance lines were expanded, as were the railway terminals, for a total of 14 Km in rail extension).
Led the project control group (8) responsible for cost control and reporting, project estimating, scheduling, and change management. Assisted in development of Prime and Subcontract change request & change orders to include logs.
Completed the works in the mine and the port as per BLS with minimal variances. The consolidated global cost was very accurate and labeled as a “success” because the estimated ended up being within 5% of the final TIC of USD 1.2 billion.
