Experience:

Independent contractor for Signal Hill Solutions LTD from January 2015 to present. I provide medical therapy management to patients in English and Spanish at contracted pharmacies nationwide.

Retired from Walgreens Boots Alliance after 33 years of service as a clinical pharmacist. Pharmacy manager for 25 years at Walgreens. Spanish speaking translator for patients. Also translated on behalf of other Walgreens pharmacists to assist their Spanish speaking patients. Current pharmacy license in the State of Colorado and Ohio.

Formerly employed for 2 years at Ft. Carson U.S. Army Hospital as outpatient pharmacist.

I have spoken to various groups around the community to provide information on topics such as Medicare Part D, post myocardial infarction drug therapy and nutrition, respiratory therapy for asthma and COPD. Attended senior workshops to speak and provide answers to questions regarding a wide range of topics from clinical to third party insurance issues.

Essential Functions:

Accurate dispensing of medications and patient education, ensure the correct billing for third party claims, triage patients to recommend over the counter remedies or discuss health issues. Experienced in Comprehensive Medication Review thereby assessing drug usage to add or delete medications or change existing therapy. Determine cost effective therapy by using generic equivalents or more proper therapeutic alternatives. Communicate with prescribers on necessary changes in lieu of insurance issues or drug utilization review.

Inventory control and all other proper pharmacy operational procedures.

Expanded Duties:

Duties as pharmacy manager include training, scheduling and supervising staff pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns; providing guidance on customer relations; providing evaluations and educating interns and technicians.

I volunteered to become a preceptor before it became mandatory. I provided opportunities and supervised pharmacy interns in travel consultations and drug utilization and disease state review. I monitored their progress and ensured they were complying with state regulations to have their minimal requirements ready for licensure. I provided career counseling and served as a mentor post licensure for interns.

Volunteered to start up an one of the first immunization centesr for Walgreens in Colorado Springs. Expanded the immunization program by marketing and detailing physicians, starting influenza vaccinations on a walk in basis instead of appointment only, and began providing all routine immunizations. I started the first travel consultation service at Walgreens which also provided travel vaccines including yellow fever. I began the first pharmacy based post exposure rabies clinic in El Paso county. I have also served as a resource for other pharmacists on immunization questions.

I was the Walgreens marketing representative for El Paso and Pueblo counties. I would detail providers on Walgreens pharmacy policies, clinical service, and patient benefits. I tried to improve communications and understanding of operations to the medical community. I served as liaison between providers and Walgreens to identify problems with communications and to facilitate prescription work order transmission. I helped identify relationship problems between Walgreens and providers in order for our mutual patients to have a better clinical experience.

Backround and interests:

I am an avid mountain biker and downhill skier. I enjoy running, yoga, and Pilates . I have achieved a black belt in Kung Fu. I enjoy traveling especially in South America. I am proud of my heritage and I have a keen interest in the history of the Southwest and its Native American and Hispanic cultures. Bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
