I am a versatile professional seeking my next career opportunity. For more than fifteen years at Alcon Laboratories in Fort Worth I enjoyed highly effective working relationships with colleagues throughout the organization. I employed in vivo and in vitro models to evaluate candidate therapeutics for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Growth factor induced and hypoxia induced angiogenesis models were the screening tools for evaluating the efficacy of the drugs tested. I supervised the work of one direct report and routinely presented our results to the organization.

Accomplishments

A rodent model of light induced retinopathy identified drugs that preserved retinal function. I independently conducted all aspects of in vivo studies from design to execution and analysis which identified candidate therapeutics worthy of further evaluation.

Growth factor induced and hypoxia induced in vitro models of diabetic retinopathy were used to identify drugs having a protective effects on cultured retinal endothelial cells.

I proactively and routinely addressed laboratory hygiene and safety issues. I worked effectively in laboratory settings involving blood borne pathogens, cryogenic procedures, and chemical and biological waste containment and disposal utilizing the appropriate personal protective equipment. I secured additional cryopreservation storage capacity for the Glaucoma and Retina groups.

I attended research conferences and presented the findings of my laboratory studies. I authored a patent application that was approved by the Alcon Patent Committee.

While an Inspector with Foods Group North I participated in inspections of food manufacturers and wholesalers in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area. This involved documenting sanitation and safety lapses, such as lack of temperature control, which could contaminate foods to be sold to the public. Food labels were always examined to ensure that allergens were identified. Environmental monitoring provided aseptic samples in food manufacturing facilities to be tested in the Austin laboratory.

I have always made teamwork a priority, led by example, and pursued opportunities for improvement. I am prepared to exploit my technical skills and experience in a new organization in the Dallas – Fort Worth area.
