- I develop articles on sustainable copper mining for the most prominent association representing the international industry, encompassing its top players. My articles for the Sustainable Copper website focus on member commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and include coverage of renewable energy, energy efficiency, recycling and smart water use along with safety, education, environmental conservation, community relations and full-spectrum stakeholder engagement. Amid emerging market demands and the proliferation of electric vehicles, battery storage and other clean technology, responsible copper mining has never been more important.

Communications Consultant for The WORLD BANK in Washington, DC (2020)

-for the multilateral lender’s Climate Smart Mining initiative, the first fund of its kind which promotes responsible mining practices in resource-rich developing nations for a low-carbon future. As a Short-Term Consultant (STC), I provided communications support to the initiative with founding members which include mining firms Rio Tinto and Anglo American along with The German Government. This included the editing, the development of Op-eds and other publications and messaging for key stakeholders including policymakers, civil society organizations, mining firms and the media related to the launch of the fund’s latest report, “Minerals for Climate Action: Decarbonizing Mineral Production for the Clean Energy Transition.”

Public Affairs Consultant in Washington, DC (2015-2018)

-Writer and consultant working to engage public-private stakeholders with miners deploying wind and solar power which can - and do - share electricity with communities - along with CSR outperformance. My outreach centered around online news content and social media publicity.

-These analyses emphasized how impact entrepreneurs, ethical funds, family offices, institutional investors, NGOs, governments and others can scale these opportunities within COP21’s $13.5 trillion commitments as the industry rallies around the framework.

-I edited segments of a user-friendly manual for utility customers of a start-up, now within a global network, which produced software for advanced energy storage solutions for grid and mini-grid-connected solar and wind power.

-At the flagship Engineering & Mining Journal and Coal Age, I covered all aspects of mineral extraction worldwide, including mergers and acquisitions, financials, quarterly reports, shareholder activism, environmental controversies and clean energy use;

-In addition to editing the monthly magazines, I edited a daily e-newsletter and generated comprehensive articles on cross-sector sustainability through CSR Watch, a regular column, and developed all content for E&MJ’s 2013 and 2014 sustainability editions.
