I am pursing an opportunity to join a team and develop chemical and environmental engineering related skills utilizing my experience from the agricultural, academic, and consultant business sectors along with my analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication abilities. EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

Master of Science in Environmental Engineering Candidate • Idaho State University Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, December 2017 • Arizona State University Six Sigma Greenbelt • April 2017

Safety and Chemical Engineering: Process Safety 101 • April 2016 Safety and Chemical Engineering: Inherently Safer Design • April 2016 Safety and Chemical Engineering: Process Safety from Experience • April 2016 Safety and Chemical Engineering: Risk Assessment • April 2016 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) 24-Hour • September 2019 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Process/Project Engineer, The Amalgamated Sugar Company (TASCO), May 2019 – October 2020

• Lead in project and construction management including TASCO employees, contractors, and grower board members for the implementation of replacement cooling towers and replacement of 1960’s era filters without process upsets

• Commissioned new process equipment into factory, including the publication of new training documentation and training of employees across four rotating shifts such as centrifugal machines, coarse screening filters, cooling tower replacements, test skid for fine filtration, clarifier water loop for beet sugar lab, and plate and frame heat exchangers

• Drafted proposals for new technologies to be implemented to the factory to boost production of sugar from 30 million pounds a day to 40 million pounds a day that were presented to and approved by the TASCO grower board

• Lead investigation of potentially out of specification filter aid that lead to saving TASCO $150,000 within first month of employment

• Lead testing of new technologies and performed quantifiable statistical analysis to be implemented into the process to boost production capabilities

• Designed and implemented interictal process additions in emergency situations to keep plant producing at full capacity

• Collected, prepared, and tested liquid sugar samples to identify and statistically quantify deficiencies in plant production during period of random quality upsets

• Collected data, performed quantifiable statistical analysis, and developed presentations to identify process deficiencies outside of emergency situations utilizing ParcView and self-developed Microsoft Excel sheets that are used by managers daily to manage the process

• Developed and published process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams for new projects and existing processes in the factory.

• Performed and published dust hazard analysis for sugar and pulp in accordance with NFPA 61

• Performed process hazard analysis on existing equipment along with establishing and maintaining routine and non- routine maintenance schedules to prevent potentially unsafe working environments, including main process chemicals such as sulfuric acid, sulfamic acid, muriatic acid, and liquid carbon dioxide

• Developed, published, and trained employees on new lock out tag out procedures for new equipment and updated procedures for existing equipment

Professional Experience Continued

• Involved in HAZWOPER 24-hour training along with utilization of training with sulfuric acid containment breach from primary containment which lead to developing updated documentation and training for this process

• Developed and ran audit procedures for filter cleaning to prevent out of specification juice from becoming final product

• Developed testing procedure and ran chemical trials for new chemical defoamer and infection preventing chemicals such as Peracetic Acid

• Periodically took over shift supervisor responsibilities to fill gaps in coverage that included managing employees, identifying key process equipment decencies, and ensuring final product was inside specification requirements Engineering Intern, Cascade Earth Sciences (CES), January 2018 – April 2019

• Applied and documented quality assurance processes to ensure projects met specifications such as utilizing a geosynthetic clay liner for land application of solid waste streams

• Collected and prepared ground and water samples for external laboratory analyses

• Designed and installed fluid flow monitoring projects (e.g., a remotely located weir in a dynamic flow channel) to validate compliance with grandfathered State of Idaho water rights

• Drafted proposals for client-owned, environmental systems to ensure compliance with State of Idaho regulations

• Collected data, performed analysis, and developed presentations for applications including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Deltek Vision

• Assisted in project management and communications between clients and stakeholders including CES, testing facilities, and contractors

Research Assistant, Arizona State University, November 2013 – December 2017

• Ensured the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering Laboratory complied with all safety, hazardous material, and regulated waste management regulatory requirements

• Knowledgeable of laboratory emergency response protocols including spills of hazardous materials and fires

• Over four years of experience in ensuring responsible handling of hazardous chemicals and blood borne pathogens

• Accomplished research assistant with strong laboratory skills in handling, preparation, and analyzing laboratory specimens

• Proficient in executing proper laboratory and research protocols for time-sensitive experiments while maintaining experiment integrity

• Laboratory leader in data collection and analysis, recruitment, and training, documentation, and protocol development, and group journal study and examination Design Projects

• Senior Chemical Engineering Design Project: Developed environmental control, life support, active thermal control, thermal nuclear power, and radiation shielding systems for a simulated mission to Mars

• Junior Chemical Engineering Design Project: Developed a methanol production process that focused on maximizing profit and safety while minimizing environmental impacts
