As I completed clinical experience for my master’s, I continued to work shifts within the hospital as needed including endoscopy nursing and floor nursing. I also assisted with COVID pandemic relief by planning for emergency response at a prefabricated triage tent as well as community and employee testing.

INFECTION CONTROL
I communicate required results to the state as well as monitor infection rates within the facility. I assess culture reports monthly to determine infections present, nosocomial infections or community acquired infections. I implemented a surveillance system for detecting and monitoring hospital acquired and community infections. I provide ongoing education programs for employees. I maintain infection control policies and procedures. I have initiated the implementation of Antibiotic Stewardship among the rural health clinic as well as the emergency room. I continually monitory CLABSI and CAUTI rates and develop performance improvement plans as needed.
EMPLOYEE HEALTH
I manage employee health files and ensure records are kept up to date. I monitor employees to assure vaccinations and other health information is appropriately tracked. I initiated N95 fittings across the entire hospital district and have maintained yearly fittings since.
CARDIAC REHAB
I monitor the telemetry while patients who have underwent significant cardiac procedures or have significant cardiac history exercise. I monitor their ongoing vital signs and develop education as needed for each patient.
Muenster Memorial Hospital is a very small Critical Access Hospital. I will often float to the floor, emergency room, endoscopy unit as circulator or pre/post op. I believe it is important to be a team player and provide help when it is needed, and wherever it is needed if it is within my scope of practice.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
I developed processes that increase patient satisfaction. I ensured that all assigned departments participate in the hospital and system wide performance improvement programs. I assisted the medical, nursing and other professional staffs in the development of Quality Assurance. I prepared QA reports for the Med staff team and the board of trustees. I coordinated and attended Quality Assurance Committee meetings and recorded minutes.
RISK MANAGEMENT
I evaluated and monitored undesirable events that may represent potential liability to the hospital or other providers of care. I collected data which could be utilized in identifying and minimizing risk exposure. I reviewed all occurrence reports and assessed their seriousness and potential liability and initiated follow-up as circumstances warranted. I reviewed patient complaints and addressed as necessary.
