Description:

TBC Corporation is one of the nation's largest vertically integrated marketer of tires for the automotive replacement market. The Company's retail operations include Company-operated tire and automotive service centers under the "Tire Kingdom", "Merchant's Tire & Auto Centers", and "National Tire & Battery" brands, and franchised stores under the "Big O Tires" brand. TBC markets on a wholesale basis to regional tire chains and distributors serving independent tire dealers throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

TBC Store Technicians will use CARS interface (Frontend GUI, also known as RPOS, Retail Point of Sale) to add customer, vehicle info, check the inventories (tires, parts and services), create, update and to finalize orders. CARS will invoke multiple services which are not limited to create / update / get customer info, inventory details, products, Vehicle info and Orders related Web Services/ REST/ RFC that are exposed by SOA (the middleware layer). The SOA system will then invoke SAP ERP/JD Edwards ERP Web Services to get the information and return the response back to CARS site. All the Web Service calls are synchronous request/response pattern calls. The RPOS (Retail Point of Sale) sends the request which comes to SOA middleware (supported by IBM App Connect, Data Power and Extreme Scale technology) and SOA middleware sends the data to SAP. It also processes the response from SAP system and sends back the data to front-end UI. So, SOA middleware plays an important part in the whole architecture.

Tire America web site interfaces: SOA middleware REST interfaces are needed to make or get the tires Inventory, demand, and supply details in SAP available to Tire America website to successfully deliver the customer orders. Updated inventory details for Tire America will be sent from SAP to OMS (Order Management Systems) via the middleware so that OMS can have the latest information for the incoming customer demands.

The ENTERPRISE system will be built using latest technologies on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with the highest level of customizability. The system will integrate all the existing various applications within the product suite, such as MMIS, EDI, Xpression, Geostan and Enrollment broker into a single enterprise application framework. It will also provide flexible Rules Engine (Fair Isaac) for managing all rules related to the application. The WEA Trust integration project is an Enterprise Application Integration project, where in various front-end application will be integrated with legacy application on AS/400. There are 17 applications that have been identified for integration. As the initial step the MEDecisions application is being integrated. MEDecisions is one of the front-end applications, which is being hosted by a third-party vendor. This application is basically a medical management application and must be integrated with WEA backend application. WBI ICS has been chosen as the core integration technology. A service layer is also designed to launch various backend application based on input type. This service layer is hosted on WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
