2) Plexis Feb 16 - July 17

Software Test Engineer in PPP 18 Months

Plexis Payer Platform (PPP) is suites of independently deployable healthcare services such as claim service, member, provider services to form overall solution for payer/Medicaid Management Information System. Each service is a modular, component-based, highly scalable, and near real time claims processing system.

Claim adjudication framework will receive and accept all claim records in near real-time from the external entities. EDI framework ingests the incoming validated 837 files and performs validations, such as data format, data type, and required elements in near real-time. Once validated, the 837 file is transformed into JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) files. The JSON contains all the data elements needed for adjudication of claim records. The JSON is then consumed by our claim adjudication process.

Claim adjudication logic should accommodate all claim types (professional, institutional, DME, original, adjustment, and void). All claims, regardless of the type, must be processed to apply the appropriate set of validation rules, pricing policies, post-edits, claim status (accepted or rejected).

Validation of claim in adjudication framework will be performed by rules engine. The ruleset in adjudication rules engine is developed using HIPAA 837 data elements. All claims received from external entities must be validated by Adjudication edit service against CMS business rules consisting of different types of edits and audits. The system should reject claims that do not pass the Mandatory Elements Edits.

Additionally, valid claims must go through Member, Provider, Validation, Pricing, CCI, Duplicate, and Limit/Conflict edits. Any of these failed edits will get posted on the claim.

As a tester, working in Claims adjudication framework and Reference module.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Functional Testing

Understanding Claim edits requirement specification for member, reference codes, provider and identifying the required Test Scenarios

Using JIRA tool to writing test cases and map test cases to edits requirements.

Preparing JSON test data for edit processing and use SQL knowledge to prepare claim test data.

Involvement in analyzing the issues, creating defects in JIRA and triage with development team.

Functional, System and Regression testing for every Iteration.

Database Validation to check the updated data in the Database.

Verification and validation of claims, reference user interface screens as per PPP specification.

Involved in helping the team members as and when needed.

Database Testing:

Team Plexis retired the legacy IRL process (convert X12 to claim) using Edifecs. Introduced simplified Smooks Java based json approach which reduced the organization costs and to reduce claim adjudication timing. As part of this implementation PPP able to process 102,000 claims per hour using 1 adjudication server comprised of 2 RAC nodes utilizing 128 cores and 280 threads. Company purchased CMS Limited Data Set from CMS for performance testing.
