Objective

I’m a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Kian-Huat Lim’s lab research on therapeutic targets for pancreatic cancer. My interest in research started before pharmacy school and continued on during pharmacy school. Through researching in the lab, I have been able to learn various techniques. I am planning to pursue academia as I feel that there are many students that could become scientists but do not have the opportunity to do so. Education

Doctorate of Philosophy-Chemistry : 09/2019-12/2023 University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB

Various techniques include NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, culturing, and structure elucidation. Doctorate of Pharmacy : 08/2012- 05/2019

University of Louisiana at Monroe, Monroe, LA

Various training courses including:

Immunization certification through APhA, certification for use of vivarium, NMR course (graduate course audit)

Work Experience

Postdoctoral Fellow: 10/2023-present

Washington University at St. Louis, MO

I am working on trying to get a TPL2 KO cell line to inject into the mice. Additionally, I have conducted genotyping and breeding of mice to obtain a KPPC-TPL2-KO mice to investigate the mechanism of TPL2. During this time I have done other molecular biology techniques in addition to this. Research Assistant: 09/2019-09/23

University of Manitoba-Winnipeg, MB

I am responsible for learning various techniques to do structure elucidation (NMR, IR, mass spectrometry). Also, I’m working on the usnic acid biosynthesis pathway in lichens and trying to have functional expression of the lichen genes outside of lichens.

Teaching Assistant: 09/2019-05/2022

University of Manitoba-Winnipeg, MB

I am responsible for teaching students in the organic chemistry lab (CHEM 2210, 2220, 2122). I assist students in their experiments and help them understand why various techniques are necessary to learn. Pharmacy Intern: 07/2018 – 05/2019

Walgreens- Monroe, West Monroe, LA

I am responsible for inputting prescriptions, dispensing medications to patients, counsel patients on medications, provide MTM services, transfer prescriptions between pharmacies, and give immunizations to patients. I’ve also helped patients who were in buyout pharmacies transition into the Walgreens system. Pharmacy Intern: 08/2016-07/2018

Rite Aid-Monroe, West Monroe, Ruston, LA

I was responsible for inputting prescriptions, dispensing medications to patients, counsel patients on medications, provide MTM services, transfer prescriptions between pharmacies. I’ve also aided in closing of Rite Aid pharmacies and with transitioning Rite Aid pharmacies to Walgreens during the buyout. Pharmacy Intern: 07/2016-03/2017

Walmart, Rayville, LA

I was responsible for inputting prescriptions, dispensing medications to patients, counsel patients on medications, and manage inventory.

Research Experience

Washington University at St. Louis, MO (10/2023-present) 1. To understand the TPL2 mechanism in PDAC

a. KO using CRIPSR-CAS9

b. Breeding mice to achieve KPPC-TPL2

c. If a drug (tilpisertib) in the clinic is worth pursuing as a therapy option for PDAC. 2. Coding

a. Single cell analysis in R

b. Some basics in Python

University of Manitoba-Winnipeg, MB (09/2019-09/2023) 3. Evaluating different lichens in the herbarium on campus. Made crude extracts of lichens and isolated lichen secondary metabolites from extraction from lichens to using column chromatography to isolate metabolites. Metabolites were identified through TLC plates, NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectroscopy.

4. Evaluating protein structure of polyketide synthase domains and understanding the difference between different species

5. Managing collaboration projects with groups in both New York and Newfoundland. ULM-College of Pharmacy- Monroe, LA (03/2014-07/2019) 6. Collection of lichens from the field (Russell Sage Wildlife Refugee) and identification of lichens 7. Made crude extracts of lichens and isolated lichen secondary metabolites from extraction from lichens to using column chromatography to isolate metabolites. Metabolites were identified through TLC plates, NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectroscopy. 8. Biological assays were conducted to test metabolites through MTT assay, wound healing assay, invasion assay, and western blot assay.

9. Current project is isolation of fungi from lichens and seeing if they could keep the integrity and produce the same metabolites

Skills

o Software Skills: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Schrodinger molecular modelling, Coding (R, Python) o Molecular Biology: Cloning, DNA isolation and purification, RNA isolation and purification, protein isolation and purification
