The objective of this assignment was to design a system that was destined to replace a multi-platform process determined by the client to be difficult, antiquated, and too time consuming to be practically worked with while producing the company’s customer price books. The new design was required to replace processes involving MS Excel, Gateway Queries, and VB6 programming. The new process was to incorporate all facets, both new and old, to be totally housed on IBM iSeries ®. Investigation while designing the new process involved a search for a third-party software vendor that would manage and integrate the client’s parts illustrations into the new price book process. Data extractions were designed based on PRMS (Vers. 8.4), PKMS, with analysis in Synon/2E, Infinium (Software 2000).

RPGII was converted to RPGIV, Screen S/D specifications were converted to DSPF definitions, and internally described files were redefined as external DDS (Data Definition Specifications). A marble and granite global company headquartered in Switzerland required modifications to programs in BPCS (Vers. 8.2). All programs were modified utilizing RPG ILE, RPG IV, & RPG III. Modifications were made to programs such as ORD139, ORD895, DRP550, BIL550, and various custom programs requiring modification/s. An additional assignment given was to design a custom Change Management System utilizing Synon/2E to create prototypes. Project was canceled by the newly hired C.I.O. Equity Residential Properties, Chicago, IL Programmer/Analyst (07/07 - 08/07)

Analysis requirement to determine impact of new BAI (Bank of America) transactions for their J.D. Edwards based interface on the IBM iSeries. This requirement required review of current RPG Free & ILE programming, as well as the standard OS/400 utility type software associated with this platform. Client also requested documentation and walk through to ensure quality.

DNOA (a subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois), was primarily involved in the management of

dental plans with associated applications. It was my responsibility to support these applications in an IBM

iSeries environment. Duties included analysis, estimating, developing, and testing in support of DNOA’s ISR

(I.T. Support Request) system, including estimates, time reporting, project reporting, etc. All development

was performed in RPGLE, RPGIV, RPGIII, and RPGII. The usual and standard OS/400 utilities were used,

along with MKS Implementer and Hawkeye.

Brookfield Zoo (Chicago Zoological Society), Brookfield, IL – Programmer/Analyst (06/06 – 06/06)

Perform analysis and resolve erroneous condition found in J.D. Edwards (JDE/400 8.1) check reconciliation interface with a Chicago bank. The engagement required a review of current “in place” user procedures, reproduction of the error condition in a test environment, identification of the cause of the error with the users, and a walk through of the proposed resolution with the user community.

Alberto Culver USA, Inc., Melrose Park, IL – Programmer/Analyst (10/05 – 03/06)

Responsibilities included the development of eleven (FTP driven interfaces between IBM ® iSeries and MS Server. The interfaces exchanged data between Alberto Culver’s SSA’s Prism (Vers. 7.1) in Culver’s manufacturing group and a third-party logistics firm. Project documents such as requirements specifications, project definition and monitoring spreadsheets utilizing MS Excel were created by myself. Data mapping was primarily focused on the Resource Management and Customer Order Management modules. Developed programming utilized RPGLE, as well as standard OS/400 utilities, i.e., SEU, SDA, Query/400, and CL programs. Direct interfacing with both the division and 3PL IT managers (Mexico) was required.

Client requesting me by name for a return engagement to work with SSA’s BPCS (Vers. 8.1. Duties include

writing data extraction programs in RPGIV/ILE, CL, and SQL. Utilization of standard OS/400 utilities, i.e.,

SEU, SDA, RLU, Query/400.Was responsible the design and creation of all of the application’s

documentation. Initial requirement was to set up a VPN connection with their well-known west coast client to

work remotely and writing FTP programs to transmit the extracted data. Analyze data from Adesso’s client

utilizing MS SQL Enterprise Manager (Vers. 8.0). Data mapping to Adesso tables., creating/altering database

content and definition, while searching, scanning and sorting of data utilizing SQL/400 & Trans-Act SQL.

Alcan (American Can), Chicago, IL – Programmer/Analyst (10/04 -12/04) and (8/05 – 9/05)

Update the client’s manufacturing ERP (Data/3) security to SOX: 4 procedural standards. This project required taking verbal specifications, design “on the fly”, coding, and the unit testing of all programs. Required technical skills included subfile programming in RPGIV, SDA, CL programming, and debugging. The departure comment from the client supervisor was, “My ability to work with little/no supervision was greatly appreciated”.

Given OS/400 Security Officer rights was administrating system security (user profiles, object security, etc.)

Application software included J.D. Edwards (Security, DD, SVR, Dreamwriter, Menus, etc.), Report Manager

Con Agra Foods, Inc., Omaha, NE – Senior Programmer/Analyst (11/02 – 6/03)

Participated in the Nucleus project (conversion from SAP R2 G/L to Oracle G/L database). Duties

included developed technical designs for conversion, interfaces, program modifications to BPCS programs.

Schedule and hold “sign off” meetings for designs. Acted as project database administrator creating files, and

making modifications as required. Coded and tested all conversion programming. Performed update to

production files with post update support. All executed without erroneous event. Modified and tested various

RPG and ILE programs in BPCS applications of AP/GL. Conducted technical interviews for staffing.

Walgreens’, Deerfield, IL – Senior Programmer/Analyst (07/02-11/02)

Responsible for development of the WITS (Walgreens Internal Tax System) batch process. Duties included

coding of programs in Cobol/400. Acted as project database administrator creating files, and making

modifications as required by design change requests, development of conversion programs for data migrated

from IDMS mainframe database.

Performing as a hands-on project lead. Involved in all stages of the development cycle. Duties

included user interface, development of conceptual designs, technical designs, and various forms of

documentation. Consolidated shipping designed, coded, installed with interfaces to BPCS/Logistics Pro

in forty-five days. This position required significant people skills as well as technical abilities. Position

also required strong knowledge of BPCS (Vers. 6.0) with AS/SET (Vers. 6.02). with significant code creation.

Fujisawa Pharmaceuticals, Deerfield, IL – Senior Programmer /Analyst (5/00-7/00)

Analyze, code, test, and install the interface between Sales (A/R) and General Ledger (G/L) in

C/A’s version of PRMS (Vers. 8.4). The project required development of several test environments

while extracting and balancing production data to test against. A significant user interface was required to insure accurate G/L balancing prior to live start-up.

Mc Cain Foods, Oakbrook, IL – Senior Business Systems Analyst (10/99-04/00)

Responsibilities included applications support in all areas of a customized version of PRMS

(Vers. 3.0). Applications include inventory management, credit, purchasing, shop floor,

MRP, MPS, etc. Functions included analysis of problems logged by a help desk, user interface,

problem determination, developer direction, and issuing of work requests/specifications

designed to produce the correct solution to production problems on the IBM AS/400.

Hendrickson International, Woodridge, IL - Programmer Analyst (5/99-9/99)

Client required the conversion of human resource history from a MS Dos based human resource

system (Abra) to the IBM AS/400 based Infinium H/R 2000 system. Functions included analysis of

the PC based files, file transfer, creating RPG data parsing/conversion programs, actual

conversion of data, and post conversion verification. Responsibilities required me to interact with

many Hendrickson site personnel, as well as Hendrickson’s software Vendors.
