Database Administrator: Mr. Jones supported over 400 Databases spread across 80 instances of SQL Server, primarily targeting SQL versions 2014 and 2016, but including the project's Azure Devops Database Server utilizing SQL 2017 for all development work. He worked on manual processes and automated routines to consistently monitor database size, drive space, backups, and job failures. He worked closesly with production DBAs to commmunicate application level error aggregation as well as production size metrics to provide to relevant teams. Mr. Jones used Redgate tools to generate load data for properly testing query performance and has successfully been able to diagnose and offer query improvements for several years. He's made himself familiar with third party solutions and implemented them, such as the Ola Hallengren database maintenance solution across all servers. Mr. Jones has progressively built skills in PowerShell for backup server maintenance and has general familiarity with modifying and running PowerShell Desired State Configurations.

I used OlA Hallenge to help speed up the Database Backup on the SQL Server Database.

Database Administrator: Mr. Jones was responsible for providing oversight and maintenance for the Oracle (10g - 11g), MS-SQL server (2000-2008) database which supports the AV-SOA system. AV SOA is a collection of open source and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software components that aid in providing seamless unclassified network and system architecture services to the DoD acquisition community totaling over 6,000 members. Any failure of this system could have a severe impact on everyone from the Pentagon to the solider in Afghanistan.

Oberthur Technologies, Chantilly, VA February 2008 – July 2011

Databases Administrator: Mr. Jones acted as the Oracle and SQL database administrator for all databases for Oberthur in Northern and South America. Oberthur Technologies is an international firm specializing in the manufacturing personalization of credit, smart, and identification cards for American Express, MasterCard, Visa, J.P. Morgan Chase, and the Federal government. Mr. Jones developed and implemented a failover and restoration process, and enhanced guides for maintaining and restoring platforms and network processes.

System Administrator: I responsibilities included continuously monitoring systems use of available resources. The system controlled the payroll applications for police, fire, and sheriff departments, totaling more than 3000 city employed workers.

Database Specialist: I was responsible for the design, development, and implementation of database applications for several major projects. This included designing performance testing, and application tuning to determine system performance parameters. He. converted the promotion board information system from Oracle version 7.5 to Oracle 8i, and SQL*Forms 4.5 to PeopleSoft on Windows NT Server. He also assisted in the development of an integrated work breakdown structure correlating the system design to the program requirements producing a baseline for development, and a model for future enhancements and upgrades.

Database Analyst/Programmer: I was responsible for working with system administration personnel to perform database management functions and maintain configuration/specification control over the development process. This project involved converting the promotion board information system from Oracle version 7.5 to SQL*Forms 4.5 on a Windows NT server. Mr. Jones assisted in the development of an integrated work breakdown structure correlating the system design to the program requirements.

NOBLE STAR, Arlington, VA March 1995 – February 1997

Database Specialist: Mr. Jones designed a complex performance testing application using Oracle version 7.0, SQL*Forms 3.0 on a UNIX server to determine system performance parameters for Halliburton NUS main office which saved countless man-hours of manual testing.

UNIVERSAL SYSTEM, Arlington VA April 1994 – March 1995

Database Analyst/Programmer: Mr. Jones was responsible for converting a financial management system from Oracle version 5, and SQL*Forms version 2.3 on Wang VS5000, to Oracle version 6 and SQL*Forms 3.0 on a SUN 4/10. He completed the task three months ahead of schedule. He also conducted in-house training for Junior Oracle Programmers saving the company thousands of dollars in additional training costs.

ANADAC, Arlington, VA January 1990 – April 1994

Database Analyst/Programmer: Mr. Jones provided database application program support primarily using Oracle version 5 in a VAX/VMS environment. Applications included a 100-user, multi-site material tracking system, an equipment configuration status accounting system, and a budget executing system for a $40 billion ship building program. Mr. Jones developed and maintained multiple Navy financial databases using DBASE III and Clipper to avoid having to purchase a 3rd party development and maintenance contract saving over $75,000.
