My highest qualification is an National Diploma in Education Commerce from Tshwane University of Technology .My thesis is titled, Flow Cytometry ( Haematology ) CD4 Count on HIV patients in Gauteng Province .
I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Medical Technician in the category of Haematology .After I resigned at the Department of Education Gauteng as a Temporal Teacher for Four (4) years at Oakdale high at Ennerdale I entered into a two-year internship with the National Health Laboratory Services where I received extensive hands –on training inall aspects of Haematology . On successful completion of the internship, I passed the board examination administered by the Health Professions Council of South Africa and I am now a registered Medical Technician in the category ‘Indpendent Practice Haematology ‘.During my training as an intern Medical Technician I acquired the following practical skills:

Summary of flowcytometry Experience
As an intern-medical technician in flow cytometry bench haematology,I was trained to on how to work on the bench day to day workflow .
I was trained and achieved competency on specimen processing, gating and results interpretation .The gating and results interpretation was done together with a qualified technologist and Haematology consultant .
As part of my rotation I was given several cases in which I processed the specimen and together with the technologist and haematology consultant in charge and perfomed the gating and results interpretation
The final report for flow cytometry was written by the Haematology consultant .
During my rotation in haematology core laboratory I rotated on four benches the processing,Advia,Coagulation and Special coagulation benches
At Advia bench I was trained and achieved competency on daily and weekly maintenance of the machines, how to perform QC and how to process specimen automated and manually
On the coagulation bench I was also trained on daily and weekly maintenance of the machines,performance of QC and to process specimen and result interpretation
On Special coagulationI was trained on daily and weekly maintenance of the machines to process specimen and result interpretation although the results are entered and final report is done by haematology consultant on this bench
On all benches I was trained to work independently, I was also trained on how to review an SOP in haematology bench
I was also trained on how to perform and interpret blood grouping test.indirect Coombs and direct Coombs . On this bench the BMA,cytochemistry stains,klehaur,iron stains and hemosiderin are interpreted and resulted by haematology consultanats my duties were to perform the test and ensure the control has worked.
In the molecular haematology bench I was trained and achieved competency on how to handle myself in a molecular laboratory, good laboratory practice(GLP)in the molecular lab,DNA extraction and setting up a PCR run for prothrombin and Factor V Leiden
Trained on interpretation of results,the final report on PCR assays are done by haematology consultant part of my traing was to set up the run and ensure the control are within range
During my rotation here I was trained on PFA-100 and HPLC where I was trained on maintenace of the machines and processing of specimen for this tests . The report for the HPLC test is also done by consultants my duties were to process the sample ensure the controls or calibration has passed
I was also trained on how to perform Haemoglobin gel electrophoresis,of which the results are also interpreted and reported by haematology consultant .
