Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer - Member of the Board of Directors Responsible for managing the Credit Department, the Loan Closing Department, the Loan Servicing Department and the Loan Review Department of this $1.1 billion bank in Houston, Texas. This bank is a very active and profitable SBA lender. Reported to the President and served as the Chairman of the Directors Loan Committee and the Bank Loan Committee. As a member of the Senior Management Team I was involved in strategic planning and a member of the ALCO committee.

● Managed the efforts of three Senior Vice Presidents in charge of three departments that reported to me responsible for loan underwriting, loan closing and loan servicing. The staffing total was 40 plus in total.

● Supervised a staff of 6 including the Credit Department Manager, and 4 credit analysts.

Senior Vice President and Senior Credit Officer 1998-2004 Oversaw the implementations of loan policies for this $1.8 billion community bank. Managed the credit, asset recovery, and loan review functions. Chaired the Senior Loan Committee which handled loan approvals from $500 thousand to $12 million. Managed a $400 million loan portfolio.Restructured loan administration, origination and servicing, asset recovery, and OREO functions. Changed the credit culture from an equity lender’s perspective requiring limited financial disclosure to that of a cash flow lender requiring full disclosure.

● Improved the quality of the loan portfolio by instituting a new comprehensive credit administration regiment

● Reduced classified loans from $28.1 million to $12.1 million, OREO from $26.8 million to $2.1 million and reduced past due loan ratio from 4.6% to 2.1%.

● Introduced PC based DCF model and new financial statement analysis software.

● Met or Exceeded business development goals established for loans and deposits.

● Championed improvements in the lending and credit functions that greatly contributed to the banks’s CAMEL rating being upgraded and the FDIC Cease and Desist Order being lifted.

Credit Specialist and Major Assets Division (Contract) 1992-1995 Managed the liquidation of a $50 million portfolio of loans inherited from several failed Massachusetts banks, containing 50+ loans constituting 30 major relationships with exposures in excess of $1 million each. Developed repayment strategies for each relationship, involving restructuring, collection and settlement strategies that resulted in over $24 million being collected over 24 months. (Office Closed)

ANDOVER BANK

Vice President and Senior Loan Officer 1991-1992

Managed a $100 million portfolio of commercial, commercial mortgage, and construction loans and instituted a state-of-the-art credit administration system at this $650 million savings bank. The portfolio consisted of 800+ loans representing nearly 400 relationships. Supervised a lending staff of six officers and four support people. Restructured the lending culture to improve performance.

BANK of BOSTON

Vice President and Team Executive 1990-1991

In February, named Team Executive responsible for managing a $175MM portfolio of 450 commercial mortgages ranging in size from $100K to $40MM. the team consisted of 12 officers and 12 support personnel. The primary effort was to bring the loans into conformity with current credit standards. It was also my responsibility to standardize the loan origination and documentation process. From June through February 1991, developed the Bank of Boston Commercial Mortgage Conduit Program. Five year fixed rate commercial mortgages were to be originated in accordance with standard underwriting criteria, closed on standard documents, pooled together, insured by a third party and sold into the secondary market as AAA rated pass-through certificates. Legal technicalities ended program. COMMERCIAL MORTGAGE CORPORATION OF AMERICA
