Meat processing and poultry kill plant / tray pack site for Tyson, one a leading global supplier of meat and poultry.

General Production Manager / Assistant Plant Manager

Initially hired as General Plant Manager at Monroe facility, running Cut-Up Department’s 2nd shift (second processing of birds from chiller-packaging-blast freezer-shipping). Promoted and relocated to Vicksburg, with oversight of entire 2nd shift of entire plant: 6 production lines / packaging areas (1 IQF line, 3 Par-Fry lines and 2 Fully Cooked lines).

Management Scope & Additional Accountability: Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance, Human Resources and Quality Assurance. Directed 240 team members (15 managers) and cooked-operations production of 450,000+ pounds per day.

Plant Performance: Devised and implemented efficiency and carcass without giblets (WOG) yield enabling plant to hold a divisional first place ranking.

Shipping & Receiving: Communicated daily with Shipping & Receiving on matters ranging from sourcing raw materials, to truck arrivals, on-time product deliveries and inventory checks.

Facilities Maintenance: Supervised day manager and 2 night supervisors in charge of preventive maintenance and repairs for all equipment and overall operation of production lines.

Quality Assurance: Collaborated with day managers and night supervisors on all QA issues ranging from product quality,

weight issues, and overall individual lines’ operations.

Human Resources: Communicated and worked collaboratively with HR on discipline issues, and participated in activities related to terminations / suspensions. Involved with hiring process. Slashed turnover rate from 38% to 22%.

Smithfield Packing Company produces hot dogs and deli meat.

Superintendent

Recruited as Superintendent of Lunchmeat Slicing’s 1st and 2nd shifts. Promoted with expanded oversight of lunchmeat manufacturing (3 shifts). Supervised all lunchmeat production with 5 shifts, 120 team members, 7 supervisors and production of 225,000 pounds average per day. Advised newly hired Plant Manager on production and product issues.

Labor Costs & Productivity: Reduced labor by 40%, along with redundant production line—with zero loss to production.

VANTAGE FOODS, Lenoir, NC 4/2007 to 1/2008

Innovative, case-ready fresh meat solutions for North American food retailers.

Production Manager

Recruited for Canadian operations’ first US plant, along with startup team of owner, QA and HR managers. Within 3 months of opening, plant was operational to handle contract supplying Lowes Foods (107 stores across North Carolina) with case- ready beef and pork; and ground beef.

Startup Operations: Completed plant training at Winnipeg facility; then tasked with hiring hourly employees. Worked closely with management and HR to sift through 600 applicants and hire 120 positions. Supervised all equipment installations and trained operators. Achieved operational readiness in half projected timeline (3 versus 6 months).

CARGILL MEAT SOLUTIONS, Hazleton, PA 2/2004 to 11/2006

230,000 square foot case-ready plant production facility, with 1,000 employees, 2 shifts and producing .05 million pounds/day.

Superintendent

Hired as Superintendent on Beef Case Ready. Got costs in line, and tapped for successes with transfer as Superintendent

for Pork Case Ready division; implemented labor and yield improvements.

Asked to step into Shipping & Receiving; after noticeable improvements within 3 weeks, offered Interim Distribution Manager in charge of both Shipping (Finished Goods) and Receiving (Raw Material) – serving Wal-Mart as key account.

Beef: Raised yields 5-6% while shrinking labor 10%.

Pork: Slashed labor to near 20% and yields to 5%.

Shipping & Receiving: Ran shipping (97% of product to Wal-Mart). Turned around unacceptable delivery numbers, boosting delivery time to 99%; and order fill volume up to 98%. Achieved this with revised and tracked scheduling, as well as stringent monitoring of load issues (overages, shortages, correct charges, ongoing audits).

Observed and corrected inefficient wait times with new closely-regulated truck schedule of 10 PM to 2 PM.

Coordinated new schedule with Corporate Schedulers that reduced one whole shift of 8 team members.

Transitioned Shipping from 3-shift to 4-shift schedule with rotational weeks. Cut overtime by 50% while maintaining 99% on-time delivery.

TYSON FOODS, INC., Council Bluffs, IA 8/2000 to 12/2003

Case ready plant started by IBP and acquired by Tyson in 2001. 85,000 square foot facility employs 250.

General Foreman

Hired as GMP; title changed to General Foreman with acquisition by Tyson in 2001. Brought on board to start up Beef Case Ready and manage 2nd shift. Promoted within a year to run both Beef and Pork.

Performance: Spearheaded operations that exceeded both company’s labor and yield expectations.

MONFORT/CONAGRA, Greeley, CO; Montgomery, AL (S&C Beef); Louisville, KY 2/1984 to 8/2000

Monfort, a leader in US meat production, is a wholly owned subsidiary of ConAgra, Inc.

Superintendent

Rose from hourly worker (Greeley) in Shipping and Loading; promoted after 7 months to Shipping Lead (1984). Promoted (1986) to Supervisor and transitioned to Fabrication Floor; managed Packaging and contracts with Safeway / grocery chains.

Promoted (1992) to General Foreman over Shipping; Transferred to Montgomery (1996) as Superintendent over Fabrication. Transferred in June 1999 to Pork Plant in Louisville and charged with oversight of Fresh Conversion Department.

Performance: Conceived of, recommended and led multiple improvements, including successful implementation of ALVEY shipping system across 4 plants; 70% crew reduction with better timing on loading and ahead-of-time order pulls; and upped fabricating production from 70 head/hour to 130 head/hour.
