Resume:

Dear Brit's Pub,

I am on a mission to become a bartender, it is plain and simple. Although during the last year I have learned that the mission to become a bartender in current years is not so simple. Whether or not you have the certification to prove, it’s all about experience. I would like to elaborate the experience I possess that is viable to a bartending position.

My father was a bartender, and he has gone on to be a vice president in a department of the DHL commerce company. All of his most exciting and most potent in life lessons were always stories behind the bar. I was taught my pour count (with water instead of liquor) when I was in middle school, and I studied my dad’s old popular cocktail mix poster in his office he kept for the memories whenever I was bored. As soon as I finally told my dad I wanted to see how good a bartender I could be, just a year ago, his mixology lectures just got more intense.

I became a server at Northern Taphouse in May of 2023. I hosted for only a month before my efforts were recognized enough for management to decide they wanted me to be seen more by customers. Before my time there, beer was nothing but a single light beer I tried in college. As soon as I got my hands on a respectable tap list, my eyes went to the bar. I fought every shift to become a bartender, and when I received no for an answer, I fought twice as hard to become a barback. Once I finally became a barback, I also convinced the bartenders to let me practice bartending. On the right shifts I was doing everything the bartenders were doing, and I was doing it well. I was walking out with more than just petty cash for tip outs from the other bartenders for my help. I can make any cocktail I am told the ratios for if I don't already know, and I have memorized around 10 common cocktails and shots outside of liquor+liquid. Unfortunately the barback position was recently limited due to corporate wide training and a slow season and I have been left without the bar shift opportunities. I was barbacking 2-3 times a week for around 8 months.

Although I cannot say I have been employed as a bartender, I have bartended. I am capable of doing what a bartender can. I am seeking a company who is willing to invest in my word and allow me to show them, and more importantly, show myself what I am capable of doing behind a bar. I am seeking 1-2 shifts per week to gain this experience. I have a very diverse set of employment experience, from lifeguarding for 4 years in highschool, to being a vet assistant and doing blood draws on dogs. I have also majored in Astrophysics, Studio Art and I have my Associates degree in Liberal Arts. This allows me to pull from a very large set of skills when I am approaching tasks and challenges, both creatively and scientifically.

I look forward to hearing from you, I would love to simply sit down and have a conversation. I am confident I can convince you with my work that I am a wonderful addition to the bar.
